Betty's Biscuits Record 1st Win of the Season 5/18/2017
Betty’s Biscuits achieves first win of the year behind patience at the plate and a big inning. In a 16-4 victory, the Biscuits forced 5 walks on the day and rarely swung at the first pitch of their at-bats; a strong deviation from the earlier games of the season. The offense also showed more pop with 4 extra-base hits, against 1 before this game. They look to continue the strong outing next week.
Offensive Player of the Game:
Earl Whelan, who went 4-4, with 1 Run, 3 1B, 1 2B, and 1 RBI
Honorable Mention:
Jeff Carlson, who went 2-4, with 2 Runs, 2 2B, and 4 RBIs
Defensive Play of the Game:
Sean Riley, who, while on offense, hit into a double play. This nearly ended up being a triple play to end the inning giving The Connections momentum to get out of the inning unscathed. When asked to comment on the play, Zach Wulderk said, “He shouldn’t have done that.”
Frosty Beverage Duty:
Scott Conners and Mike Guevara when next they play

Betty's Biscuits come up short, dropping to 2-2 5/19/2013
Betty's Biscuits dropped a heartbreaker, giving up 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th to lose to the Bigger "E" Bulldogs. The Biscuits were haunted by mistakes on the base paths as well as in the field, giving up 8 runs in the game, but only 2 of them earned.
Offensive Player of the Game - Chris Masters 3 for 4 effort, including a single, 2 doubles, a run scored, and 3 RBI was one of the offensive highlights of the evening. His K in the 1st inning was not (sorry Chris...I had to go there).
Defensive Player of the Game - Zach Wulderk's unassisted triple play, the first witnessed by the Biscuits, was the clear choice.
The jury's still out as to whether the next game of the season will be on May 26th (Memorial Day Weekend) or June 2nd. Look for an email or text within the next couple of days as the schedule gets finalized.
Regardless of when the Biscuits play next, let's look forward to getting back to basics in our next game, including smart base running & hitting the cutoff...and of course...let's get our offense going again!
Frosty beverage duty for the next game: to be coordinated between Masters & Ricky

Betty's Biscuits sweep Mother's Day doubleheader to move to 2-1 on the season! 5/12/2013
Betty's Biscuits got in the "win" column not once, but twice by sweeping the Mother's Day doubleheader on the back Ricky Barnett's stellar pitching performance. The shutout was the Biscuits 3rd shutout in recorded history, matching the efforts from 9/30/12 & 6/17/12.
In addition to the excellent pitching, the Biscuits were also benefited by some timely hitting, scoring a total of 22 runs in the two games & getting back to the 1.000+ OPS territory in the 2nd game.
Outstanding Player of Game #1 -- Ricky Barnett pitched a shutout and contributed at the plate, going 2 for 3 with 1 run scored. His OPS of 1.333 was second only to Ronthel.
Offensive player of Game #2 -- Zach Wulderk gets the nod for a 3 for 4 performance, with 2 singles, 1 double, & 3 RBI. His OPS of 1.750 represents the Biscuits season high after 3 games.
Defensive Play of Game #2 -- Ricky Barnett spun a second pitching gem, allowing 3 (questionable) runs to a team that throttled the opposition in the game prior to ours. Ricky did an outstanding job of keeping the team's power hitters in check, making wise decisions to pitch around players when necessary.
The Biscuits look to continue their winning streak next weekend:
5/19/13 -- vs. Bigger "E" Bulldogs @ 4:45pm on Searls field 52
Jason Krob May 12, 2013 9:09 pm And special callout to Greg Beckman for filling in literally at the last second for the 2nd game of the series. The team appreciates your dedication Greg!

Betty's Biscuits fall to 0-1 after dropping their season opener 5/05/2013
Betty's Biscuits opened the season with a 5-9 loss to the Designated Drinkers on Sunday, 5/5/13. The jury's still out as to whether the Biscuits were feeling the effects of their Cinco de Mayo celebrations, or were just a bit rusty with the bats...but after a 1st inning explosion (scoring 4 runs), the bats went deathly silent. The final stat line reflected one of the lower OPS (On Base % + Slugging %) that the Biscuits have posted, including only one extra-basehit (by Doug Frye in the 1st inning). The bright spot was the defense, which looked solid all game, with minimal miscues.
Offensive Player of the Game -- Doug Frye led the team with a 2 for 3 night, including the lone XBH of the game, and accounting for 40% of the Biscuits runs (1 run scored, 1 RBI)
Defensive Play of the Game -- Greg Beckman, who had not one, but two putouts at home. Greg provided inspirational leadership by blocking the plate and recording an out on a bang-bang play at home.
The Biscuits look to get on track during next weekend's doubleheader games:
5/12/13 -- vs. Injured Reserve/Murphy' Pub @ 4:00pm on Sportscore One field 1
5/12/13 -- vs. Angler Motors @ 5:45pm on Sportscore One field 1
