Products Claim Third Championship in Seven Years

9/30/2013
The Products closed out the Cudas last week to win their first championship since 2008. While the story all season for the Products was defense, holding opponents to nearly four runs per game, the finals were all about offense. The Products lost the first game of the final series 17-14, but bounced back and won the second game 20-16. They won the third and decisive game in style by mercy rule 16-4 in the fifth inning.

The first week of the finals contest was a double header, with eight Products players taking on a full squad of 11 Cudas. The Products were constantly shifting in the field defensively to try and make up for their lack of players. Jim Rose covered both first and second base, Tom Rosborough shifted from shortstop to short field to right field, Megan Rosborough shifted between second base and right field, and Eddie Jameson covered both third base and shortstop at times. This left Dave Proctor and Jarret Miller to cover a lot of open ground in the outfield. The stat books won’t show that Pat Pizzimenti pitched an excellent game, but that is only because of the lack of fielders behind him as the Cudas continually tried to aim their hits away from the defensive shifts. The stat books do show, however, the three tag outs Brett Wheeler was able to make at the plate. The effort shown in the field by the Products team was tremendous all night.

Leading the playoff offensive surge were Eddie Jameson and Brian Middaugh. Over the final three games Eddie Jameson went 14-15 from the plate with two home runs, three triples, 10 runs scored, and 15 RBIs. Brian Middaugh launched three home runs in the first series against the Eagles and then added two more in the final game against the Cudas. Brett Wheeler shined in the final game going 2 for 3 with a bases clearing double and game leading 4 RBIs.

Products Bring Gloves to Game, Forget Bats

6/07/2013
The stellar fielding play by the Products this season continued as they held the Survivors to four runs. Unfortunately they struggled at the plate and were only able to put two runs of their own on the board and lost in extra innings. “When you hold a team to four runs, you expect to win” coach Tom Rosborough said after the game, “but it just wasn’t our night at the plate”.

In the bottom of the seventh inning with the score tied at two a piece, Jimmy Rose came to the plate with runners on first and third. He rocketed a line drive back at the pitcher who was able to not only make the catch but turn a quick throw over to third for the inning ending double play as well. The Survivors went on to score two runs in the top eight for which the Products had no answer.

The strong defensive play was highlighted by Eddie Jameson at third base as he snagged line drives and scooped ground balls, even throwing out a runner at first from his knees. Kevin Treen made a gutsy play charging a line drive and making the catch to end a middle inning rally by the Survivors. Even when a play was missed, a dropped catch by the short fielder, center fielder Tom Rosborough was able to recover the ball and throw out the lead runner at third base. Typical Products run production would have lead to a decisive victory.

Highlights at the plate include Brett Wheeler’s two singles in three at bats contributing a run scored and an RBI and Eddie Jameson’s two singles and one run scored. No extra base hits were recorded.

Products Strong Play Leads to Win

5/17/2013
The Products rode the Golden Arm of Jimmy “The Iron Horse” Rose to their first win of the season in an 8 – 2 victory over the Survivors. After letting up a leadoff hit, Jimmy retired 18 of the next 21 batters he faced. Jimmy took a shutout into the bottom of the seventh inning before the Survivors were able to string together a few hits and get on the board. After losing the shutout the team offered their condolences to Jimmy, who in turn never lost focus on his main goal. He turned and replied, “Let’s just win the game.” Spectators and fans alike were in awe of the performance and more than one person in attendance suggested the secret to Jimmy’s success might be the white vinegar he drinks during the games to quench his thirst.

The Products played a nearly flawless game in the field backing up their new star pitcher. Jimmy helped his own cause fielding a grounder and making the throw on a force out to home in the seventh inning. There weren’t necessarily highlight reel plays in the field, but not a single ground ball was misplayed all night and the team only had one throwing error during the game.

At the plate the Products were led by Tom Rosborough, who went three for four and scored two runs. His two run homer in the top third put the Products on the scoreboard and his two run double in the top of the seventh offered the team some insurance. Jarret Miller’s solid day at the plate included three singles and one run scored. Kevin Treen went two for four with an RBI double and a run scored and Megan Rosborough went two for three with an RBI and a run scored as well. Eddie Jameson added a two run RBI single to his strong early season debut for the Products.

The Products will look to avenge their season opening one run loss against the Cudas next week.

Products Lose on Walkoff Hit

9/06/2012
The Products season ended prematurely last week with their second playoff loss to the Eagles. This marks the second year in a row that the Products have failed to make the finals. Injuries and work obligations plagued the Products at just the wrong time this year. It’s a disappointing finish for the team after such a promising start.

For the second game in a row, the Products gained an early lead and lost it late in the game. In this final game the Products took a two run lead into the seventh inning, and the Eagles rallied to pull ahead and get the win.

Game highlights include Dave Procter’s four for five performance, which included a solo homerun. Keith McSally went four for five as well, with four singles.

The Eagles move on to face the number two seeded Survivors in the finals.

Products Roll to Third Straight Mercy Victory

6/18/2012
The Products hit early and hit often en route to their third straight mercy victory in the Invensys Foxboro Company Softball League. In doing so, the Products have improved their record to four wins and no losses on the season. Manager Tom Rosborough insists that the team will not lose its focus despite the fast start, “It was 2010 I think, we started that season with seven straight wins, but more importantly it ended with a loss. We’re focused on not only returning to the championship this year, but winning it.”

Roy Gardner’s pitching was on point again, stifling all Eagle attempts to rally offensively. Roy’s pitching limited the number of balls hit out of the infield and Products defenders consistently made the plays on the ground balls. The defense remained strong on the few balls hit to the outfield. Relay throws were accurate and base runner advances were limited, including a tag out at third early in the game. The middle infield duo of Brian Middaugh and Megan Rosborough continue to look strong, turning another double play as part of the effort.

The offensive charge was lead by the middle of the lineup, with Tom Rosborough and Brian Middaugh providing two homeruns and nine RBIs between them. Matt Kilbourn’s fifth inning triple completed his season cycle. He is the first member of the team complete the feat. Megan Rosborough responded well to her movement to the top of the lineup. She continues to hit the ball well this season continually putting into play. Keith McSally made his appearance on the field this year and celebrated doing so with a three for three outing and a pair of RBIs.

The Products look forward to their next game, a matchup against the Survivors this Thursday. The Survivors played short-handed in their last meeting so the Products hope for a full strength effort so they can properly gauge their team moving forward.

Products Roll to Big Victory

6/04/2012
The bats were rolling early and often for the Products against a short-handed Survivors team. The Products had 17 at bats in the top of the first inning leading to 13 runs, and they never looked back, finishing the game with 25 total runs in the five inning mercy. As part of the offensive onslaught every member of the Products team had two hits, scored a run, and knocked in an RBI.

The team was lead by Matt Kilbourn’s three for three effort, which included a home run, a double, a sacrifice, and five RBIs. Jonathan “JP” Pope went four for four with a home run and a double as well, and topped that off with three RBIs. JP also scored from second base on a sacrifice fly hit to deep left field by Tom Rosborough. Dave Procter showed his opposite field power sending four hits, including a triple, to right field in his five at-bats. Kevin Treen continued his blistering pace at the plate with four hit in five appearances as well.

The defensive effort was solid all around, with a low number of errors in the field. Defensive highlights included JP leaping to snag a line drive at third and Tom Rosborough tracking down a deep line drive in center field. The Products welcomed Roy Gardener back to the mound, and it was like he never left. Roy repeatedly dropped balls right into the top of the strike zone and got ahead of the Survivor batters in the count.

The Products improve their record with their third straight win to open the season. Weather permitting, they look to face the Cudas in another tough showdown as their last game went into extra innings.

Products Show Potential in 16-4 Win Over the Eagles

5/25/2012
The Products played a solid game all around with contributions from every player. Every player registered a hit, with all but one cranking out two hits and all but one scoring a run. Outside of a base running error and a string of three fielding errors in a row, there isn’t much to complain about in a mercy win over the Eagles. The Products will be tough to beat this year if they continue such strong play.

The team was powered offensively by another strong debut from a new player. Jonathon “JP” Pope hammered a home run down the left field line in his first at bat as a member of the Products. He followed that up with a two run single in the third inning, bringing his RBI total on the day to five. Dave Proctor and Kevin Treen both hit triples as part of the offensive barrage. Five different members of the team scored two runs a piece, including Jimmy Rose. When reached for comment manager Tom Rosborough said, “Jimmy hit two great line drives. There was a lot of pop coming off the bat, he looked like a young 65 year old out there today”.

Defensively the team was lead by an outstanding effort from Pat Pizzimenti on the mound. The Eagles scored three runs thanks to those back-to-back-to-back errors by the Products, so Pat’s ERA drops to 3.00 on the season with only one earned run allowed yesterday. He shoulder looks strong coming off last year’s Tommy John surgery. We’ll see if there is a plan to limit his innings later this summer to keep him fresh for the playoffs. Always humble, when receiving compliments on his pitching performance from his teammates Pat was heard saying, “Hey, you guys made the plays. I like this team.” With such a strong effort from the entire team, it’s easy to see why.

Solid Play Leads to Season Opening Win for the Products

5/22/2012
After having two games postponed due to rain the Products opened their season in thrilling fashion with a seven to five win in extra innings over the defending champion Cudas. A particularly low scoring softball game, the contest was filled with strong defensive play from both teams. Head Coach Tom Rosborough addressed this in his postgame press conference, “I think if you asked both teams they’d say the same thing, that they could have hit the ball a lot better, but what I’m really excited about is that defense. We made some great plays out there today. We turned two double plays and caught every fly ball they hit.”

One of the double plays Coach referred to came in the first extra inning of play. With the Products holding onto a two run lead and the top of the Cudas lineup coming to the bat with one out and a runner on first, Megan Rosborough fielded a grounder and made the play to second base as Brian Middaugh was able to turn the double play to first and end the game. Earlier in the game Tom Rosborough threw out a runner trying to tag up to third on a fly ball. In right field Jimmy “Iron Horse” Rose caught three fly balls himself.

Offensively the Products were lead by new comer and first baseman, Matt Kilbourn. He went four for four on the day with two runs scored and an RBI. Rosborough stated that Kilbourn was a great off-season acquisition and he expects big contributions from him down the line. It was Jarret Miller’s big double in the first inning that drove in three runs and got the Products off to a fast start. The bats cooled in the middle innings putting the Products in a one run hole going into the sixth inning. Matt Kilbourn got on base and his runner was able to take advantage of an infield single by Brett Wheeler to score the tying run from second base. A string of singles in the top of the seventh inning gave the Products the two runs they needed to win the game.

The Products look to build on their early season success with a 5:30 game against the Eagles this coming week.

Products Finish Season Strong

8/10/2011
The Products improved to seven and four on the season in thrilling fashion last week. They battled the Eagles all game long and ultimately prevailed in extra innings. After falling behind by five runs in the first, the Products answered with an eight running inning of their own in the second. This was powered by a string of seven straight hits, which was capped off by a two-run home run by Brian Middaugh. Brian started things off in the fourth inning with a solo shot as well. Tom Rosborough, Sr. joined in with a three-run home run of his own a few batters later. The Eagles bounced back, however, and took a two run lead in the top of the seventh inning. Tom Rosborough, Sr. hit his second homerun of the game to start things off and Megan Rosborough was knocked in on a Dave Proctor double a few batters later. After holding the Eagles scoreless in the eighth, Brian Middaugh ended the game with a walk off homerun, his third homerun of the game! When reached for comment Brian said, “This is for everyone back in Cleveland who rooted for me all season long.”

The Products look to take this momentum into the playoffs for the opening round against the Cudas. The Products won three of their four matchups with the Cudas this season, so they hope to win the three game series and advance to the finals for the fifth straight year. When asked about the team’s playoff chances manager Tom Rosborough stated, “I think this team has the right mix of talent and heart to get the job done. We’ve been on top of the mountain before and we want to get there again”.

Taking a look at the regular season team leaders, Tom Rosborough led the team in batting average and on base percentage, the only player on the team over .700 in each category. Dave Proctor was second in both categories as well, with averages of .657. Tom Rosborough led the team in slugging percentage as well, with his OPS falling just below two. There was a three way tie for most hits on the team with Tom Rosborough, Dave Proctor, and Brian Middaugh, who each had 23. Dave led the team in singles with 20, Tom led the team in doubles with 10, and Brian led the team in homeruns with 4. Brian and Tom each led the team with 2 triples a piece. Brian’s late season surge of homeruns also pushed him into the RBI lead with 24, just outpacing Kevin Treen by one. Jimmy “The Kid” Rose led the Products in walks for the second straight year. Manager Tom Rosborough commented, “Jimmy’s seen enough pitches to know which ones he likes”. Kevin Treen was one of three Products players to hit for the season cycle, along with Tom Rosborough and Brian Middaugh. The Products look to continue this strong play into the playoffs.

Products Route Cudas 20-5

7/22/2011
Don’t let the score fool you, even though the Products put up a whopping 20 runs, this game was all about defense. It started on the opening play with Dave Procter’s Willie Mays-style basket catch out in right center field and it ended with Jimmy Rose hustling his way to first base to make an unassisted put out. In between there were line drives snagged by Brian Middaugh and pop ups caught by Kevin Treen and Jarret Miller. Brett Wheeler made two excellent catches from the catcher position, running up the third base line into foul play to track the balls down. Dave Procter and Brian Middaugh also combined to score the somewhat rare 9-6-3 double play. Tom Rosborough, Sr. earned his second complete game win on the mound in as many starts with a good mix of pitches that kept the Cudas off balance all night. His pitching performance was highlighted by forcing a pop up from Brian Conner with two outs and the bases loaded. The Products were able to keep the Cudas scoreless until the fourth inning.

Offensively the Products were lead by Kevin Treen and Tom Rosborough, who had five RBIs and two doubles a piece. Dave Procter and Jarret Miller each went four for five and scored four runs as they consistently reached base all game. Keith McSally added to the fray with three singles and three RBIs of his own.

With the win the Products have now pushed into second place. They have the same record as the Cudas, but won the regular season series three games to one. With two match ups against the Eagles remaining the Products look to hold onto that spot moving into the playoffs in a few weeks.

Products On The Rise

7/12/2011
The Products rallied late in the game with a 10 run sixth inning to beat the Barracudas. The Products struck early with four runs in the first inning, spurred on Brian Middaugh’s three run homerun. The bats cooled off until Tom Rosborough’s two run double in the fifth inning, after which Brian Middaugh knocked him in with his next at bat. Things blew open in the sixth inning as every Product player reached base safely at least once and Kevin Treen powered a grand slam to deep center field. The hit marked Kevin’s team leading second homerun of the season. Both Kevin and Brian lead the team with five RBIs a piece in the game. Among the offensive standouts was Roy Gardner, who went four for four with two RBIs and two runs scored. Roy sent two frozen ropes past the outfielders in left for two stand-up doubles.

In showing that the team is built for the long haul and truly has their eye set on the playoffs, the Products started Tom Rosborough, Sr. on the mound for the game. He found a good rhythm as he only allowed two walks during the game. The Products are moving forward confidently with him marked as their number pitcher as Pit Pizzimenti recovers from his season ending surgery.

The following week the Eagles failed to field enough of their own players to warrant a league sanctioned game. The Products had a tough day against a strong team of substitute players, but a win goes in the books nonetheless. The three game win streak puts the Products back over .500 as they look forward to another shot at the first place Survivors this upcoming week.

Products Mercy Eagles

6/17/2011
After two rain delays, the Products finally met the Eagles for the first time this season. The Products struck early, with three runs in the first inning and then batted around the order in the second inning for seven additional runs, and didn’t look back after that. Tom Rosborough lead the charge going three for three with a homerun and a triple and leading the team in both RBIs, with four, and runs scored, with three. The Products welcomed Keith McSally back into the lineup with his three for three day. Moving up to the top spot of the order, Megan Rosborough went two for three with a double, a walk, and two RBIs.

Stellar defensive play kept the Eagles scoreless in four of their five at-bats. Kevin Treen was kept busy in left field making catches on both deep fly balls and short line drives. Megan Rosborough made three clean plays at second base as well as a few put outs, including one where she held onto the ball even though the sliding runner took her out at the legs. Substitute player Meigan Dean snatched two line drives out of the air at the short field position.

Products Lose Another Close One

6/06/2011
With a one run loss to the Cudas the Products fall to their first sub .500 record in recent memory. In a tie game, the Products produced no runs in the top of the seventh inning, but gave up a walk-off home run on a well placed liner to the left-center gap when they retook the field. Team members were quick to point out that a seven game win streak to start the season last year didn’t net them a championship, so there was no need to worry at this point in the season.

For the game, offensively the Products were highlighted by Megan Rosborough’s three for four night at the plate, including an RBI and a flashy run scored. She scored from second, sliding under a tag, on a cleanly fielded ball that was hit to the shortstop and played to first. Tom Rosborough, Sr. lead the team with three RBIs on the day going two for four. Defensively the team played well, highlighted by tag outs at home and third.

Team manager Tom Rosborough believes the Products will right the ship, “We’ve had a few tough losses, but I’m sticking with my team, we don’t need to shake anything up, the bats will come. We were pretty sharp defensively out there, we’ll start winning more games as soon as the bats catch up”. Even though the Products have a one win and three loss record, their run differential on the season is only negative one. You have to think the manger is right here, and that things will turn around. He continued, “They had a couple key hits where we didn’t have guys. We’ll have the right shifts on next time. Plus, we had a lot of hard hits right at people, that won’t happen every game either”. The Products look to turn things around against the Eagles with an early game this week.

Products Get Back on Track

5/16/2011
After starting their season the same way they finished it, with an unfortunate 2 run loss to the Survivors, the Products are back on track after beating the Cudas 14-8. The Products jumped out to another early 10 run lead in their second game of the season. The bats once again fizzled for the latter innings, however, as the Products failed to push their lead to 12 runs and end the game early. This time the gloves didn’t fail as the Products made enough defensive down the stretch to close things out.

“We need to evaluate what’s going on late in these games”, Tom Rosborough said, “I’m not sure if it’s complacency or a loss of focus, but we need to finish these games the way we start them”. The Products have not produced any runs after the fourth inning yet this year.

Kevin Treen provided the offensive spark early with a 2 run homerun in his first at bat. Kevin also led the team with 4 RBIs on the day. The bottom of the order came up strong as well, with Megan Rosborough going 2 for 3 on the day, including an RBI single with the bases loaded in the second inning.

The Products play their first late game of the season against the ailing Eagles. The Eagles are currently 0 – 2 and were recently mercied by the Survivors.

Products Ready to Start 2011 Season

4/29/2011
The snow has melted and it’s almost time to get the 2011 Foxboro Company season underway. The Products have their eyes firmly set on one goal: the championship. After two consecutive championships in 2007 and 2008, they have come up empty the past two seasons and it’s obvious that nothing less than a championship will satisfy this team. After feeling the agony of defeat at the hands of the Survivors in the championship round in both 2009 and 2010, the Products are determined not to give the Survivors a clear path to back-to-back-to-back Tom Emanski style championships.

The biggest question mark surrounding the entire season is how the Products will bounce back after losing reigning four-time MVP Matt Knot to North Carolina. “I’m not going to lie, it’s tough to find that kind of production for the top of the lineup, and he leaves a gaping hole in left-center field, but we need to move on” said Tom Rosborough, “Were going to try some different lineups offensively and defensively, and we’re going to put a competitive team out there every week.”

The Products believe they have added key personnel to overcome the departure of Matt Knot and the looming season ending surgery Pat Pizzimenti is about to undergo. “Bottom line, we need to go out and perform” continued Rosborough, “we’ve added the right guys, now it’s time to play ball.”

Products Need Extras to Take Early Series Lead Against Cudas

8/20/2010
As the bats tapered off, the Products ratcheted up their defense and came alive at just the right time in the final innings to secure a 14 – 12 win in nine innings against the Cudas.

The Products got off to a fast start in the first inning with 6 runs spurred by Brian Middaugh’s 3 run home run. The Products continued in the second inning with 3 runs, in part due to Tom Rosborough’s 2 run homerun. The bats slowed as the Products did not score a run for the next five innings. The Products scored 2 runs in the top of the eighth inning to put pressure on the Cudas. Dave Procter leadoff the inning drawing a key walk as the following batters knocked him around the bases for the go-ahead run. The Cudas matched the 2 runs in the bottom of the eighth and with 2 runners on and 2 outs, Roy Gardner drew a ground ball off of Brian Conner. Jarret Miller made the play getting a force out at second base to extend the game into the ninth inning. Jarret Miller then led off the bottom of the ninth with a key walk. After a Brian Middaugh single, Dave Procter then cleared the bases with a 3 run homerun. Dave Procter carried his stellar play into the field into the bottom of the ninth. The Cudas had scored one run when Dave Procter fielded a ball in the outfield and threw out speed demon Brian Conner at third. Two batters later Dave Procter fielded another hit and made the play throwing the ball to second as Wes Weiner, representing the tying run, tried to stretch his single into a double. The throw was a little off line as Megan Rosborough stepped over, made the catch, and then dove back into the baseline to tag out Wes Weiner as he slid head first into second base to the end the game.

With his play in the field and a 3 for 4 performance at the plate including a triple and homerun with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored, Dave Procter was the clear player of the game for the Products as they took a 1 – 0 lead over the Cudas in this first round playoff match up. Those in attendance to watch the game commented they had not seen such a competitive contest for quite some time with Adam Pierce noting, “That was the best game I’ve seen, ever, for any sport”. The Products will look to eliminate the Cudas with another win next week.

Products Route Eagles in Season Ending Victory

8/25/2009
Pat Pizzimenti settled down after some early pitching struggles to help hold the Eagles to two runs in the Products’ mercy rule victory. He worked himself into top form as the Eagles didn’t score any runs after the first inning. Solid defense in the field was highlighted by Brett Wheeler’s snow cone catch at first on a close play. The catch was so nearly out of the glove, the umpire waited a solid five seconds before making the call.

The Products offensive production was led by Brian Middaugh’s single, double, and triple with four RBIs. The Products also had strong contributions from Kevin Treen, who drew two walks, laced a double, and scored three runs in his four at bats, and Jarret Miller, who hit three singles, knocked in two RBIs, and scored three runs in his four at bats. As always the Products pushed the pace on the base path, including a Jimmy Rose slide into home!

The Products look to take this momentum into the playoffs next week!

Dave Proctor added a final RBI to his team leading total, finishing with an impressive 17 RBIs on the year. With Kevin Treen’s runs he moved into first on the team with 18 runs on the season, just edging Matt Knot with 17. Jarret Miller led the team in hits with 21 on the season, again just edging out Matt Knot with 20. Matt Knot did however lead the team in batting average with an impressive .741 and Tom Rosborough was the only other teammate to clear .700 filing in at .714.

Products Stun Cudas to Post 3rd Straight Victory

7/17/2009
It seems the Products have the Cudas number this year as the Products stifled the normally potent Cuda offense, allowed just 4 runs in a 12-4 victory. The products seem to have the Cudas number as they have outscored the Cudas 28-8 this season.

Leading the offensive charge was Tom Rosborough with a 4 for 4 night including 2 singles, 2 doubles and 4 runs scored. Not to mention, a superman style headfirst slide to avoid an almost certain tagout that would’ve made Dwight Howard jealous. Rosborough described his thoughts before the big slide as, “Oh shit probably sums it up”.

Though the products enjoy making the occasional “oh shit” play, the key to their success so far this season has been balance and consistency. Once again, all 12 products players had at least 1 hit and 2 or more runs were scored in 5 of the 7 innings.

The Products had another excellent defensive game shutting the Cuda offense down completely in 6 of the 7 innings, a rare occurrence in slow pitch softball. Excellent plays were made all over the infield and outfield to stifle any idea of a Cuda comeback.

The first place Products are now 6-1 for the season and look to continue their winning streak against an Eagles team hungry for their first win of the season.

Products Offensive Highlights:
Tom Rosborough- 4-4 with 2 singles, 2 doubles, and 4 runs scored
Brett Wheeler- 2-4 with a single, double, and 3 RBI’s
Matt Knott- 3-4 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI’s
Dave Proctor- 2-4 with 2 singles and 3 RBI’s

Products Stunned as Survivors Post Comeback Victory

6/13/2009
It was a close game the entire way, but the Products could not pin back the Survivors as they regain a tie for first place with an 11-10 win in walk-off fashion.

With both teams stymied offensively in the first inning, the Products drew first blood With back to back to back singles from Dave Proctor, Roy Gardner, and Pat Pizzimenti, who also had an RBI along with Jimmy Rose in that inning. With the score tied at 2 in the third, the offense exploded with 5 straight hits highlighted by Kevin Treen's triple in the right-centerfield gap. This made the score 7-2 Products, but the Survivors kept chipping away.

With a 10-7 lead going into the bottom of the sixth, the Survivors just had too much offensive firepower to be contained as they climbed even to a 10-10 tie going into the seventh. With the products not able to do anything in the top of the inning, the Survivors needed just one run to taste victory.

The Survivors didn't waste anytime as they were able to get their lead runner on base with a single. Then, another single gave the Survivors a no out, first and third situation. Following an intentional walk to create the force at home, the Survivors were just not going to be denying as the next hitter ripped a line drive single into the left-centerfield gap for the victory.

It was a fun, hard fought game for both sides, but the Products look to bounce back with a win against the Cudas next Thursday, June 18 at 5:30pm.

Products Offensive Highlights:
Ashley Maiorano- 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 runs scored
Kevin Treen- 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles and 3 RBI's
Matt Knott- 3-4 with 3 doubles and 3 runs scored

Products Slip Past Eagles for Third Straight Victory

6/09/2009
It was not pretty, but when the dust settled, the Products came from behind to overcome a pesky Eagles squad, 13-10.

For the third straight week, the Products bats came out blazing as 5 runs came home in the bottom of the first to take an early 5-1 lead. Dave Proctor's 2-run single led the Products first inning attack. The lead was increased to 6-1 after 3 innings thanks to a double by Kevin Treen who then scored on Proctor's sacrifice fly.

The Eagles, however, did not fold as they gathered 6 runs in the 4th to take a 7-6 lead of their own. However, to the delight of the Product fan(s), the Eagles lead was short lived as the bats came back alive and patience prevailed in the 5th. Jarret Miller and Brian Middaugh led the inning with a double each and Roy Gardner came up with a big RBI hit to put the Products in the lead for good. Patience at the plate in the form of walks by Jimmy Rose and Keith McSally led to 2 more RBI's. The products would add some more insurance in the bottom of the 6th and sealed the deal with a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 7th.

The Products had their struggles defensively, but they held it together behind another solid pitching performance by Roy Gardner. Brian Middaugh made some fantastic plays at third and Jimmy Rose made some key catches in the outfield.

Offensive Higlights:
Brian Middaugh- 3-4 with 3 doubles, 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored
Roy Gardner- 2-2 with 2 clutch 2-out single along with 2 walks
Brett Wheeler- 2-3 with 2 singles and an RBI
Jimmy Rose- 2-2 with 2 singles, a walk and 2 RBI's

This Thursday, the Products take on the second place Survivors who look to avenge their 13-10 opening week loss.

Products Firing on all Cylinders in Decisive Victory

5/29/2009
For the second week in a row, the Products offense got it going early on and never looked back during a 16-4 shalacking of the Cudas last night.

The championship series rematch from last September did not live up to its hype as the first five hitters in the Products lineup each pounded out a hit and scored the first 5 runs. Kevin Treen highlighted the top of the first with a 2 RBI triple.

From there, the solid defensive play behind the pitcher, Pat Pizzimenti, allowed him to deal out his second complete game win of the season. The infield led the defensive charge with Brian Middaugh icing down the hot corner and Jarret Miller at SS and Dave proctor at 2B both making key plays to keep a shutout intact after 4 full innings.

With the score 8-0 in the fifth, the Cudas finally broke through offensively with 2 runs and then 2 more in the 6th thanks to a 2-run homer Cudas outfielder, Brian "The Jackhammer" Conner.

At this point it was too little to late for the Cudas as the Products had calling cards of their own dialing long distance. Brian tagged a solo shot in the fifth, Jarret added 2-run homer of his own in the sixth, and Matt Knott iced it with a grand slam in the seventh.

Every Products player had at least one hit in the game highlighted by Tom Rosborough who went 4-4 with a pair of singles and doubles. In addition, at least one run was scored in every inning for the products except the second.

The Products, now 2-0 of the season, look to keep their momentum going with a victory against the Eagles at 5:30pm next Thursday June 4th. The 0-2 Eagles, however, have other plans as they look to catch a little upset fever with their first win of the season.

Products Late Offensive Surge Enough to OverCome Survivors

5/22/2009
The Products balanced offensive attack and solid defense proved too much for the Survivors to handle as the Products come out with a 13-10 victory during opening day of the Invensys Softball League.

The Products offense got going early putting up 4 runs in the first inning highlighted by Dave Proctor's 2 RBI single to take a 4-2 lead. As the offense sputtered in the middle innings, it was the defenses turn to shine. Down 6-4 after losing the lead in the second inning, the Products kept it close with solid defensive plays from Jarret Miller at SS and Matt Knott in the outfield. In addition, Brian Middaugh made a great catch on a line drive that looked like a sure home run down the left field line.

Down 6-4 in the bottom of the 5th, the bats came back alive. After 2 walks and a single, Kevin Treen came up with a key single of his own to knot the game up at 6. This followed with another clutch hit from Dave Proctor, this time sending a triple over everyone's head in the left centerfield gap. This put the Products in the lead for good as Pat Pizzimenti and Ashley Maiorano each added RBI of their own making the score 10-6.

In the sixth, the Survivors made a comeback attempt cutting the lead to 10-9, but the Products offense wasn't done yet. A lead-off triple by Matt followed by a single and double from Kevin and Brian set the table once again for Dave Proctor who delivered with another big hit for his 5th and 6th RBI's of the night. With the score 13-9 going into the 7th, the Products held for a final of 13-10.

Pat Pizzimenti picked up where he left off last season with another excellent pitching performance and every hitter in the products lineup reached base at least once last night. The Products next face the Cudas at 6:45pm May 28th in a rematch of last year's championship series.
