as we defend our back to back to back (yes that is 3 times) title in the city of tonawanda we have to give thanks to all those players that helped us get where we are today. and although we can look only towards the future we can not help but to look back at those individuals that helped us get were we are at today:

kevin palumbo / p-bo – as one of the founding fathers of the cock nation and the creator of the “yak hat”, p-bo’s passion for the game of softball was about at intense as his goal to get 18 on every golf course in western new york. he received orders to fort hood, texas and will be deploying to an undisclosed location during the july/august time frame.
* cock moment – going yard on the next pitch after the pitcher rolled him the ball at jimmy b’s.

chris carella / cups – brought to the team by his big sister. cups was the pretty boy on the team and always made the ladies scream with passion when he would flinch during routine ground balls. cups was part of the 1 – 2 punch the cocks have always been known for (tex being the other half….plus the taller of the two)
* cock moment – almost going yard at the pepsi center. although i will give him credit…it did hit the yellow guard at the top!

nick massaro / sampras – was brought to the team by cups and definitely set the par for all future cock rookies. nicknamed “sampras” due to his amazing resemblance to the tennis superstar pete sampras!! he even had tennis groupies show up at the diamond and ask for his signature! locking down the hot corner and always came with his gorilla stick he definitely was an asset to the cock nation.
* cock moment – going yard twice on a key play off game to bring the cocks to another championship.

what we have done in the past doesn’t matter, what matters is what we do from this point on. our performance was sub-standard this past week and i expect to double our run total against maier (porters pub #456,562,890) this week. i always give credit where credit is due and i will give maier respect for staying in the league. they could’ve easily quit like 40% of the teams and moved to another night where the competition is not that great, but they decided to take another shot at the champions. we admire their courage and will see you friday.

i would like to welcome two new rookies to the team matt & wayne. we will see if they have what it takes to remain a cock!!

now that we are passed the half way mark of the season, we remain undefeated and are hoping to keep the streak alive. this friday we play porters pub #2,642 (wright), a team that is also undefeated throughout the 2007 season. also, this friday is friday the 13th; not that the date plays any significance in the team we are playing but it is a date that is infamous with “weird” things happening. the only thing i am going to find “weird” is that are going to get over that 30 run plateau. we have come close 4 times this season scoring 30+ runs, i say we lay it on ‘em this friday and lay it thick. because, like it was said in the beginning of the season….we are the team to beat in this league. not only are we team players, we are situational hitters and mighty mighty good looking. in a little over a week we will play in our first tournament ever as a team. although, my expectations are high, i want the team to gain experience from it and improve our game. there is no doubt we will go deep into the tourney, but experience is my main concern.

our rookies have been clutch so far this season too, so kudos to them. i heard there was footage of greiner pulling a so called “derek jeter” move during home run derby a few weeks back…does anyone have it? LOL

also a big thank you to all the spouses/girl friends (except for you garza) that come out and support their cocks. thank you

friday gentlemen….it’s a showdown!! We do not average over 20 runs a game for nothing!!!

gentlemen,

this summer marks the 5th season the cocks have taken part in the tonawanda softball program. in those 5 years, we have won 3 championships and have gone through our fair share of "prospects" brought out by numerous veterans on the team (which will remain nameless) LOL we do have some new faces in the crowd this year, so please treat them with the respect you would like to be treated with….although they are rookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


with the new season only two days away, we have a new task at hand…..defending our back-to-back championship runs. although, there were no rings handed out; kevin somehow did manage to snake the trophy from the recreation department people!!! hopefully the trophy will make a guest appearance friday night. some teams have given up trying to beat us and moved on, others are sandbaggin’ and some teams have just changed their name. for example:

broadway II – dropped from the “b” division to play friday nights
sawyer creek – formerly known as “average joes”
vaillancourt – formerly known as “dwyers”



there is no doubt in my mind that we are the team to beat friday nights. my expectations are high as are everyone’s on the teams, so let us not disappoint each other. the only things i ask are the following:

1) respect each other
2) respect the decisions that are made for the benefit of the team
3) play the game with integrity and reckless abandon
