Playoff Game 1 Update

Ladies, Gentlemen and Mudarri,

Good win for the team last night. I think we all played well yesterday.

Recap of the game:

I do not really remember much of the game because I was too busy checking out Oski (I kept wondering who the tall ugly girl was on our sideline). The Unicans were a good team, fundamentally sound, and on average 10-15 years older than us. What I do remember is the other team went up 4 on us but we came back with 2 of our own in the bottom of the first. We were down most of the game but our defense was solid and kept us in the game. Nice job Eric, Derek and Sheila.

Our bats didn't pick up until the bottom of the 5th when up put up 7 to take the lead. The other team came back in the top of the 6th (when Corbin started loosing it with the play at the plate). Top 7 shut the opponent down; bottom 7 we had the top of the line up come up and we managed to pull out the one run victory. Good hustle Derek scoring from 2nd on the single.

Points to Ponder:

1. We were too tense before the game. We need to bring the intensity without being tense. Stay loose, relax and have fun.
2. The games aren't going to get any easier. I think we all need to take a strike every at bat. We all go up there hacking and making outs easily. I think one inning the other team threw us 4 pitches. Walk is as good as a hit in softball, (got to keep the line moving).
3. Coverage of home plate: As soon as the ball is hit the Pitcher should book it home and be ready for a play at the plate. Not trying to put you on the spot Jay, we should just do this every time so there is no confusion. When other teams see this, they will be less likely to run home.
4. Every base needs to be covered at all times and do not throw the ball around.

We have a good opponent on Thursday in Hyde Park @830 Yuck Fou. Chi and I have played with some of these people and they hustle.

Over all good effort and lets keep it up.

Good game last night. We fielded only 9 players and still managed to pull out the 12-8 victory. Defense was very solid yesterday, probably the best I've seen us play all season. We jumped out to a 2 nothing run in the top of the 1st, but the other team put 5 right back up on us. The next 6 innings we only gave up 3 runs.

Our offense was good as well last night. We had a lot of productive outs moving runners around. Hustle was excellent. If we are to beat the top teams in the play offs we need to run hard on the bases.

Good job Shiela playing 1st; Corbin I think it was the most I've seen you move around the mound. I think the two of you had 6 or 7 outs together. We also turned 3 double plays (would have been 4 if Derek was paying attention). Purvi also had a nice play at 2nd, I think her heart is still pounding.

MVP goes to E. Steiman in the outfield. He actually caught something last night! I've never seen someone running the bases or making plays in the outfield while smiling (personally I think its weird, seek help). He did have 1 monster shot for a solo HR.

All in all, good effort by everyone. Next time please do not encourage the weirdos on the field by talking to them.

Here is Sumi's recap of the games last night

Good 2 wins last night. We are currently 7-2 and on a 3 game winning streak. First game was pretty close, competitive, good defensive game. MVP goes to Derek, great job playing the 6 hole.

Second game, not fun at all. What was the final score and how many times did we bat around? I lost interest after the 2nd inning. MVP - Martin J. O'Malley with his monster and legit Grand Slam. That was a shot, what the hell have you been eating? Marty last night was the true definition of "ringer"

It was another outstanding performance by the Rick Rude Boys last night with an easy win over Red Tide. It must have been because of the great shirts provided by Leo that helped get our hitting shoes on.
