Justice Back-2-Back Regular Season Champs! 8/20/2010
Manager Ryan Ng set up 3 goals for Justice this year
- Win Regular Season
- Beat the crap out of our rival teams we know from CCSA
- Win Playoffs
As of today, 2/3 of those goals have been checked off and we await the last one.
Regular season was clinched last night by sweeping Hit Stick and Ravens. Alfred Lo finally got the monkey off his back and pitched a 12-0 mercy shut out against the Ravens. Ryan Ng continued his quest to an 800 average, one more week for him to maintain his current feat.
In the regular season justice went 6-0 against their CCSA Rivals with a + 55 in convincing fashion.

2010 Opening Day May 13th 4/29/2010
The 2010 season is approaching and the YRMSPL schedule has been released. Opening day matchup is a rematch from the 2009 season finals against Birman. These two clubs have had many epic battles in the past and this year stands to be no different.
Only one major roster move was made in the 2010 season with Steve Siu departing due to work relocation. With him goes the #1 fan Jennie Tao who was our score keeper and snack provider. We'll miss you two!
Justice was promoted to the Crosby division where they are going to face some stiff competition. Go Justice!

Justice closes out 2009 season strong 11/04/2009
November has arrived and we say goodbye to another great softball season for Justice.
The 2009 season saw the addition of the twins manning the middle infield making their DPs a regular occurance for the best defensive team in YRMSPL. Alfred Lo is the comback player of the year playing his first full season since 2006 (2008 Achillies, 2007 ACL) being a huge asset to the lineup producing when it counted most. In the 2009 season we also saw great improvements on both sides of the game from many of the Justice personnel making the team more competitive and dominant at times.
In the end, Justice met their prescribed goals to win Reg season, playoffs and get promoted in the 2010 season. Petalis division here we come!
On the SPN front, Justice went to the finals in 3 tournaments and won their final tournament of the year. Finally we got that monkey off our back! Justice has qualified for the 2010 SPN Provincials and hope to enter next season barring any administrative setbacks.
The countdown begins. 5-6 more months til the next softball game.. rest up and get your gameface on.

Second Season Showdown in the Finals Birman vs. Justice 9/18/2009
Justice and Birman did their part to ensure a their second big showdown of the season as the #1 &2 teams square off in the finals in the York Region playoffs. These two teams last met in an epic battle on September 1st in the last game of the regular season to determine which team would clinch first place in the regular season.
To get here, Justice swept the Raiders in the semis in a hard fought battle. Ace Alfred Lo had a huge game 1 hitting a 2 run shot and a grand slam while forcing some strikeouts (~4) on the evening on the opposition. Enoch Chan hit for the cycle in game 2 with a huge no-doubter. The bats were coming back alive tonight..
Game 1 was a close battle where Justice had a huge 8 run inning to cement a 14-10 victory, while Game 2- Justice just plain old hit early.
Turning Point of the evening: The sequence of events which occurred in that 8 run inning where the Raiders 3B was fustrated by the speed generated by the Justice lineup on the basepaths causing the umpire to earn his salary.
Player of the night: None other than Alfred Lo for his huge hitting production along with great pitching striking out the opposition and fielding his position.

Justice advances to semis to face the Raiders 9/11/2009
The second season has begun and Justice had a feel of how even the sub 500 teams can go into playoff mode. First place Justice squared off against 8th place Pistons in what turned out to be a pitching duel for most of the night where Justice struck out 7 times in the evening a club high which we never want to see again as there are probably a few bruised up asses this morning.
In the first inning of the first game there was a very memorable catch made my one Tammy "Tam-wow" Tam which reminded us all of one Dwayne Wise catch in the Mark Burhle perfect game. Tammy leaped like we've never seen him leap before to save a 2-run shot by the Pistons slugger. That set the tone for the Justice Defence that evening.
In the second game, the bats started to come back alive a little bit. Justice began taking more pitches as the Pistons pitcher was beginning to lose some of his command. Alfred Lo hit a huge jack in LF in the deepest part of the field. Meanwhile, Chris Li hit a grand-slam in the shallowest part of the field to tack on some insurance for a bigger lead. Chris Li's salami was disputed by the Pistons, unfortunately Video Replay has not been implemented in York Region Mens Slowpitch League yet. The famous "Get out!" yelp made us think the King was at the plate for this at-bat.
Play of the night: After thinking about ti overnight.. I will have to give the play of the night to Tammy on the catch.
Player of the night: Chris Li for a strong showing in the 4-spot going 6/8 with 6 RBIs over the night. Creating a new "cash-money" combo for the second season.

Justice- Regular Season Champs!! 9/01/2009
At the begining of the season, a goal was established. Win the regular season and get promoted. Today it was achieved.
In the final 2 games of the regular season Justice faced off against Birman & Friends where Justice had to sweep Birman to win the season championship. The goal was at hand, and within reach.
A very competitive game was displayed tonight which had many spectators ranging from the league president to just players on other teams in the other divisions. Both games started off back and forth but Justice went off to sweep Birman 17-10 and 20-16 to secure the regular season championship!
With all 14 players on Justice on the roster for this epic battle, Justice just came out hard and hit. They kept hitting and hitting.. In a post-game interview with Birman & Friends "All or Nothing Left Handed Hitter" his response was "You guys had 14 guys in your lineup and we saw no holes.. you guys were the better team".
The stats have been uploaded and based on that we hit very well. The defence was strong as usual with marvelous plays by the twins and the King in the OF.
There were many plays of the night. Strong honourable mention goes to Ellisons huge DP he made in the first game catching a line drive up the middle then getting the tag force out at 2B. Chris Li made a huge catch against "all or nothing left handed hitter" who basically demoralized Garry Lam earlier in the game forcing him to bench himself.
Play of the game: After some fustrations on the mound and a few misplays in the field, Alfred Lo had to help his cause. He came to the bench after a tough inning thinking what he needed to do to spark the offence. He came on with 2 men on and hit a massive Jack to LC, that sparked the offence to a 9 run inning en route a victory in the second game.
Player of the Game: It is cliche, but everyone played well tonight. This was a team effort to achieve our goal. From top to bottom we had no holes in our batting order and our defence held our own.

The Pussycats meowed, but then Justice was served 8/26/2009
on a cool, august night in the desert of Crosby Park...where a bunch of hungry 'Tigers' were preying on a 260lb african hippo named "Umpire".... Team Justice decided to crash the party and gathered to yell: Richmonddddddddd...... COURTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
Play of the Night: According to the pregame scouting report, Mike 'big tiger' Robinson proved why he was labelled 'all or none'. Late game 2, after already hitting a monster 300 ft shot over the Right Field Fence, Big Tiger tried to improve on his 1-for-6 night by turning on a Money ball again sending it into stratosphere. DesMok tracks the ball in true Gaylam fashion... going back, wayyy back, the wrongg way... camps on the warning track for 5 seconds, looks over at Derek for help, only to find the ball falling right into his glove, 6 inches off the ground, to end the HR threat. Big Tiger throws his Miken freak away in disgust on his way to getting mercied.
Player of the Night: Ellison Bautista-Chan with an unbelievable performance at SS, flashing leather left and right, making AT LEAST 20 put outs. Furthermore, along with his evil twin, are both now officially REAL SOFTBALL PLAYERS - going up the gut, slapping base hits reminiscent of the Coed King's style, and pissing off the pitcher all nite.

Huge sweep tonight vs. GS 8/17/2009
In a critical game which Justice took two from GS tonight in a York Region Classic at Richmond Green with a 16-11 and 23-11 (mercy) wins tonight.
In the pre-game, the key to winning was trust. Trust your teamates- more importantly the one batting infront and behind you, trust your infiield so keep the force on.
In game 1 Justice came out hard going ahead 9-3 in the second inning, but the bats were silenced for 8 consecutive batters allowing GS to come within 1 run. In the 7th inning Justice responded quickly with a 5 run inning enroute a 16-11 win.
Game 2, the bats didn't go silent to keep up with the GS bats in a back and forth first few innings of the game. Shummy hit a 3 run shot followed by Alf with a solo shot. Howver Justice took no prisoners and hit up 9 runs in the 7th putting them in a mercy position i the bottom of the 7th where they shut them down 3 up 3 down. It all started with a magnificent play by Ellison Bautista-Chan to lay-out for a hard hit ball, pivot on his knee and throw the man out at 1B. That set the tone for that inning.
Play of the night- Ellison's magnificent snag. Way to stay with that one budd!
Player of the night- This is a close one, but it would have to be to the Ace Alfred Lo having good command pitching. To my knowledge he never fell 3-0 to a batter. He played his position making a few put-outs in the field incuding a 1-6-3 DP.

Every game is now a must win- Justice goes 3-1 in back to back double headers 8/14/2009
Due to rainouts- Justice was scheduled in to face the Pistons and Raiders back to back in York Region classics where they came out with 3 wins. In the chase for first Justice must win out the rest of the season.
Aug 12- Double Header vs. Pistons
The last time these two teams met it was a one sided affair as the Pistons had lack of defence. However in the dog days of summer the Pistons vastly improved in defence especially in the middle infield. They made the plays that they should have made and simply were strong defensively. On top of that Justice due to their long layoff (almost 2 weeks) bats were silent. Justice won the first game 9-5 and lost their second game 12-9. Simply put, the hitting was not there across the board. The positives were that Henry Wong had a very good defensive game #1 and we saw things come together with him and Alfred where the pitcher was able to cover 1B to get the putout (score that 3-1 on the scorecard). My mother said if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all- so I will not say anything about game 2.
Coming out of a hard loss to the Pistons, Justice was out with a vengence in a MUST SWEEP situation with the Raiders. In their last battle, the Raiders defeated Justice in a pitching duel (4-3 final in extras). Justice went on to beat the Raiders 17-6 and 13-1 (mercy walk off). Starting pitcher Eric Lau pitched the first game and struggled with his command walking two consecutive hitters and getting lit up a bit in the begining. However, Eric showed strong character coming back out and not only getting his command back but fielding his position- he brought back memories of Ricky Romero last friday night at the Skydome. In game 2 "the King" pitched a shut-out going into the 6th inning where it was broken up by an ill-advised throw from 3B causing a run to come in- and for those who were not in attendance, Enoch did not make that play. However the Prodigy did make a few do his part at the plate- in the bottom of the 7th he drew an intentional walkto setup some good old Justice Magic with Alfred Lo hitting the walk-off mercy hit with 2 outs.
Aug 12:
Player of the Night: Henry Wong, had a good hitting game and played some good D.
Play of the Night: Alfred covering 1B for the 3-1 ground out.
Aug 13:
Player of the Night: Eric Lau, way to come back in game 1 on a great pitching performance and also drawing 3 walks going 1 for 1 and 3 runs.
Play of the Night: Alfred's Walk-off mercy hit. Not many people know- but Alfred called it from the bench after Desmond scored.

Justice sweeps Sunbeam in a near-miss night 7/31/2009
Yet another York Region classic in a far far away diamond in Newmarket- Art Ferguson. A well grommed diamond for a well played night of ball. We saw Jeff Shum make his debut pitching, where he pitched a Complete Game against Sunbeam for a 8-6 victory. In the second game we saw Eric Lau start but eventually was solved by Sunbeam, making way for Alfred Lo to come in for a vultue relief win 16-10.
Today the Justice Bats were silient not reaching their season average of 16 runs per game over the night. The only explaination is the long layoff the boys have had since the last competitive game they have played together was over the July 18-19 weekend in an SPN tournament. Since then due to rainouts and uneven schedule there was a long layoff.
The Twins made 3 or 4 DPs over the evening poster-izing the aging Sunbeam team. Steve & Jeff hit nice jacks and Ryan went for an inside the parker. However, the Co-ed King ended up striking out for the third time this season (tied for second on the team behind Enoch) in leagueball resulting in a glove after the game.. he was joined by a seasoned vet in the gloving- Henry Wong.
Not much else to talk about over tonights game except that the bats gotta wake up. Next game is Aug 12 vs. Pistons which is making for almost a 2 week layoff once again.
Player of the Night: Elgene Bautista-Chan. Along side his partner in crime, defence never slumps and these guys exceeded their DP quota for the night. Elgene went 6/7 on the night showing how a lead-off hitter does the job.
Play of the Night: In the second game there was a key play where the Sunbeam pitcher hit up the box and it went off Alfred's glove. Elgene stayed with the play and doubled up Sunbeam. HUGE play which woke up the offence.
Roster Note: Steve Siu has been placed on the 30 day DL as he is going to be going on a long vacation in August and will make his triumphant return in our last league game vs. Birman. Enjoy your trip we'll miss you, most of all we'll miss Jennie and her awesome scorekeeping and snacks.

Justice take two from the Vipers scoring 21 runs in both games 7/14/2009
Tonight was a special night for a few as we saw the return of Chris Li and Desmond Mok paying us a visit. It was also special to see Alfred Lo face off against his former team. To pay tribute to the Vipers Alfred showed up at the diamond in his retro Vipers jersey.
Game one, the boys came out strong hitting a 10-spot in the first inning going through the 13 man lineup. We saw a no-doubter 2 run show by Alfred followed by back to back triples by Garry & Tammy. Eric Lau had good command and the defence was strong on its toes en route a 21-3 victory.
Game two started off a bit slower. Shummy hit a 2 run no-doubter as well in the 5th inning. However things slowed down when Enoch and Derek both K-ed up in the 6th closing down the momentum. Justice was in position for an early finish but the Vipers fought back with a 7 spot forcing more innings. Justice quickly responded with their own version of a 7 run inning where they sent the first 6 runners to the plate without an out. In the end Justice won 21-13.
Players of the night: Desmond Mok glad to see the recovery is going well & Chris Li welcome back.
Play of the night: Sequence of Alfred's Jack followed by back to back triples from Tammy & Garry.

Justice Sweeps the Tigers in a near miss 7/07/2009
Justice swept the Tigers 13-1 and 14-9 in a York Region Classic.
The first game, the Ace Alfred Lo was dominant, he retired the first 10 batters he faced then Steve Siu jinxed the no-no. Alfred had strong command in the game throwing for strikes at will and his stuff was on.
In game 2, something was missing from Justice- Killer instinct. The game was back and forth until the 6th inning (tied at 6) where Justice came in strong nd had a huge 5 run 7th inning. Tammy made a huge catch in LF robbing the Tigers slugger from a 3 run shot.
One thing we missed tonight was the twins hitting their DP quota.. Although there were no opportunities for it to happen it was one of those wonderful treats which we missed. Next week perhaps from Magic and DPs??
Next week Justice faces off against the Vipers at a classic in Milliken Park.. let's get to them early and often. This game marks the long awaited return of Chris Li, we are all glad you are coming back kid.
Player of the night- Alfred Lo for his phenominal game 1 pitching, command and stuff is the key to a successful pitcher.
Play of the night- Tammy's rob

Justice Splits with the Golden Sombreros... where is Chris Li?? 6/29/2009
In a quick York Region classic double header Justice Split with the Golden Sombreros (14-7W and 13-10L) sending the umpire home at 10pm for an early exit. Despite both teams playing in the Markham tourney over the weekend, these games were clean defesively.
Game 1 saw Justice come out strong with Shummy taking a 2 run shot with one out. Our call up Cam Chung also had a magnificent game with a HR, triple and double. Great job Cam. Eric Lau was excellent at the plate retiring 14 straight Golden Sombreros.
Game 2, Justice was up 9-0 in the 5th inning where the game seemed to be in the bag. But the Golden Sombreros came out to hit in the 6th inning with 8 runs en route a 13-10 loss to Justice. Jeff Shum ended the game with the bases loaded 2 outs... and pulled the same move Chris Li did in the season debut by grounding out to the 3B.
Where is Chris Li?? He has missed 3 magic tricks from Ellison and Michelle's Black Forest cake.. Had he been playing he might have beein the same position Shum was in to end off the game. We miss you budd see you soon.
Player of the Night: Ellison with magnificant defence as SS and a willy maze catch... and of course entertaining us after the game with yet some more magic.

Justice continues how they left off in SPN tourneys from last fall. 6/28/2009
Despite the 9 month layoff from SPN tourneys, the Justice boys took care of business in the Markham tourney like there was no off season by making the finals and finishing 2nd place in a 12 team tournament.
On day one of round robin play, they went 3-0 finishing in 2nd place after round robin play. The first place team had a +21 RD while Justice had a +12 RD. In their second game Jerome Wong earned the walk-off victory with a deep pop fly scoring Ryan "The King" Ng. That second game Justice was tested with one thing they didn't face in a long time- confrontation and injury. But they pulled things together in that game to pick up the W.
On the Sunday, with the 3-0 record and 2nd seed the boys earned a 1st round bye. Where in their first game of the day they faced their rivals from Saturday Game 2. The boys decided to take no prisoners and have no mercy on these bitter rivals. Perhaps the sweetest victory of the entire tournament, Justice slaughtered them 26-4 where in the first inning 21 batters were sent to the plate. The umpire had to call this game after 4 innings of play.
The Semi-finals took place at headquarters- Victoria Square against their league rivals the Golden Sombreros. This matchup was very competitive, Justice took an early 8-3 lead in the 2nd inning en roaute a 13-9 victory. Ironically, Justice faces off against the Golden Sombreros on the next day (monday) in a classic York Region evening double header. This may be dirty folks.
Finally --- The finals. It ended off with 1 vs 2.. both teams undefeated in the tournament. Both teams hit the HR maximum by the end of the first inning, where it became a true test of placement of the ball. There were plenty of outs via the HR rule but in the end Justice fell 16-6 against the Red Hot Dawgs.
Going forward, Justice earned themselves a Mens E Provincial Qualifier, hats,
50% of their entry fee back and most of all invaluable experience which translates into confidence. This won't be their last SPN tourney this year as already team management is looking to enter a Markham tournament over the July 18-19 weekend.

Justice splits with Raiders in a pair of defensive gems 6/26/2009
Game 1: Defensive gems from both side in a game which saw the first extra innings game of the season. The raiders got a walk-off hit in the bottom of the 10th where the umpire may have made a questionable call on a 6-4-3 double play.
This game saw both sides get doubled-up on the base paths and clean defence. The Prodigy had a tough game as he stranded 7 men on base, in post-game interviews his response was "I have never left 7 guys on base, I should be leaving this game with 8 RBIs".
Game 2: Justice came back strong and with a vengence after a tough loss in the first game. The bats came back to life in the second game enroute to a 14-9 victory. The play of the game goes to the first ever 3-4-1 double play I have ever seen in slowpitch. This would have not been possible without Henry's huge stop in the infield, when asked about the rare feat the first basemen reseponded "Last time I tried that play I hit the runner in the back, this time I executed due to his lack of speed".
Player of the night: Steve Siu, despite his FC with Henry on 2B

Great start to the 2009 season 6/18/2009
After trimming the roster over the off season, the core group of ball players returned to the diamond yet again in the 2009 season. Team management has made their goals for this season clear- Win the Regular season & Playoffs to win some nice gear and get promoted.
12 games into the season, Justice is in a tight race for 1st place against their rivals Birman- who perhaps are their best matchup in the league.
Let's continue playing hard and playing smart ball. The news section will be updated more regularly now.. I hope
