PETE HITS 2 HOMERS & 6 RBI's TO HELP DEFEAT DUNKIN DONUTS 17 - 15!

6/09/2011
It was another game that we won, but nearly blew a 7 run lead going into the 7th. We came out strong putting up 12 runs after 3. Pete hit two HR's, one a grand slam to be followed by another HR by Stephen for 3 runs. As the game headed to the 5th, the score 12 to 9 us. They put up another run, while we scored 6 with the key hits being a 2 run 1B from Wayne & Ron a RBI 1B in the 6th. The team had a 17 to 10 lead as Dunkin Donuts took their at bats. They put up 5 runs on a great attempt of pulling out a come from behind victory. If not for a line drive hitting a runner at 1st, who knows they may have won.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS: Mark played a strong game at 2nd, Pete and Todd had a few nice grabs at the corners. Ron played a steady game in LF filling in for Fisher, He showed off his strong arm coming up with a missile to home plate to keep the runner at 3rd late in the game. Wayne again contributed with a great running catch.

OFFENSIVE STARS: Pete two HR's for 6 RBI's and Stephen hit a 1B & HR for 3 RBI's, John, Todd, Ron, Berger, Ralph & Coach had 2 hits each. Wayne, Mark and Mike G had 1 hit.

WAYNE CONTINUES TO BE HOT 4 HITS, 3 R's & 6 RBI's TO LEAD TEAM 23 - 22 VS ANCIENT MARINER!

6/01/2011
The offense came out swinging very early scoring 13 runs after 4 innings. With what seemed to be a big lead quickly vanished as Ancient Mariner fought back to score 8 in their 4th to make it 13 to 11 us. In our 5th, we knew more runs needed to be scored as we were not going to surrender its lead. We put up 10 runs in the 5th & 6th to increase our lead 19 to 11. Once again Ancient Mariner would not go away as they scored 5 runs in their 6th and then shut us down in the 7th. Trailing by 16 in the bottom of the 7th, Ancient Mariner came within 1 run of a great comeback win. Needless to say the game had lots of offense and many ups and downs.

DEFENSIVE STARS: Fisher once again showed why he is and has been the leagues best outfielder with his steady play. Wayne came up with an inning ending diving catch with the bases loaded to stop Ancient Mariner from scoring more than 8 R's. Mark played very good at 2nd and nearly made a great over the head catch running into RF. Matt again was very steady at 3rd and Rob made some nice picks at 1st to keep balls from getting by him.

OFFENSIVE STARS: What can you say, the Coach asked Wayne when he joined the team that it needed him to be very aggressive and get away from being a slap hitter. He has done it, again with 4 hits last night, 3 R's and 6 RBI's. Outstanding job! Mark, Rob, John & Matt also had a good game with 3 hits each. Fish, Ron & Mike G contributed with 2 hits each. Todd hit a shot for a 3B, Ralph & Brian checked in with a 1B and the Coach had 3 hits, 3 R's & 3 RBI's. Wayne by the way knocked in the winning run and was the #1 Star, #2 Mark key RBI's when needed and #3 Rob 3 hits as the clean-up hitter.

WAYNE HITS 3 RUN HOMER FOR GREAT COMEBACK VICTORY 14 - 10 OVER 76

5/18/2011
What a great way to start the Championship Season with a nice come from behind 6th inning 9 run rally and win over the 76'rs 14 to 10. Up to the 6th aside from a 7th inning 3rd the 76"rs were held to only 3 more runs thanks to a nice pitching effort from Ralph, very good outfield defense with only 3 players, Fisher, Wayne & Ron until Brad showed up in the 4th. The infield also contributed with several nice plays from Matt, John "Scoop", Mark and Mike - G.

Trailing 8 - 2 heading to the 5th Wayne got the team going with a hustling double his second of the night. Mark then singled and both scored on a two run double by Matt. Ron would score Matt to make it 8 - 4 the 76'rsafter the 5th. Down by four as we started the 6th, John reached base on a error, Fisher a 1B that set up the clutch three run homer by Wayne. Earlier the Coach had asked Wayne to be aggressive at the plate for the team. Drive the ball hard, well he did with two 2B's and a 3 run Homer. The team finally got a Lefty to win a game with a HR it only took 6 years. As the 6th continued the team knew it needed more runs to win it. Mark hit a 2B, Matt took a BB and then Mike G hit a clutch that was followed by two clutch hits a 2 run 3B from the Coach and a 2 run Homer by Brad. The team gave up one more run, but ended up with a great victory 14 - 10 against the 76'rs.

Defensive Plays: The outfield of Fisher, Wayne and Ron keeping us within reach by filling the gaps quickly and getting the ball back to the cutoff man quickly or 2nd. In the infield Matt played great at 3rd a position he has not been at for awhile, Mark made several nice plays at 2nd, John "Scoop" held his own at SS and Mike G had a very good game at 1B digging out low throws and running down a player for an out. Ralph helped himself with a nice play of a hard shot up the middle. He also pitched great only 3 runs against other than the 7 in one inning.

Offensive Stars: Wayne great job, two 2B's, a 3 run Homer & 2 runs. John 3 hits, Fisher & Mike G had 3 hits each, Mark 2 hits, Matt BB & a 2B with 2 R's and 2 RBI's. Brad had a 1B and a 2 run Homer. The Coach hit a 2 run 3B and scored.

TEAM TAKES TOUGH LOSS IN EXTRA INNINGS 11 - 9 VS WALPOLE/76'rs

7/21/2010
This game seemed like it would never end as it took 11 innings before the outcome one that was hard to take since Berger pitched well and the defense was strong for most of the game. Again the lack of offense killed us as it has most of its 7 defeats.

We had our chances to win after giving up a 4 - 0 in the fifth inning. Walpole / 76'rs fought back in the inning to score 5 runs and take a 5 - 4 lead. We then came back with 5 runs in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a 2 run homer from Ron, a 2 run 1B by John and RBI hit from Pete. In the sixth Walpole/76'rs tied the game by scoring 4 runs. We had our chance to win it in the 7th with two hits, but did not. The game then was extended to extra innings until the eleventh until Walpole / 76'rs put up two runs take the lead. We did mount an attempt at not only tying the game, but winning it as the Coach started it off with a 1B, but was out on the next at bat by a FC. Dean then hit a 1B putting on with the chance to tie or win it. However, it was not our night.

DEFENSIVE NOTES: Larry made a couple of nice catches in the outfield. Paul had a strong game in LF. Pete played the hot corner at 3rd well with Mike G making a couple of nice picks at first on some low throws. Berger again took some hot shots up the middle.

OFFENSIVE NOTES: John 2, Pete, Matt, Paul, Mark, Mike G & the Coach had 2 hits each. Larry had a 3B & 1B for 2 RBI's. Ron hit a 2 run Homer.

GOOD DEFENSE & OFFENSE BACKS BERGER'S NICE PITCHING FOR 13 - 9 WIN OVER BEARCE.

7/17/2010
This was a must needed TEAM victory. As Berger stated after the game, " the game ball should go to everyone", well said. We displayed a complete game from good defense and clutch offense to tough pitching from our ace Berger. It could be the kind of victory that starts a winning streak reroute to League Champs.

Trailing 2 - 0 going to the 2nd Matt hit a solid 1B and scored to get us on the board. In the 4th, the coach started things with a BB that seemed to get Bearce upset, Fisher followed with a 1B, then Pete & Mike G reached base to set up a key hit in the game a 3 run 2B from Brian Owens. 1B's by Wayne and the coach set up Fish for an RBI 1B to give the team a 6 - 3 after four innings. The team increased its lead in the 5th by 2 more runs as Stephen hit a 3B, Matt walked and both scored on RBI 1B's by Mark & Berger to give us an 8 to 3 lead heading to the bottom of the 5th.

With the defense playing well and Berger pitching good things seemed to be in good control. However, Bearce showed why they have been Champs several times by coming back with 3 quick runs in their 5th to cut the lead 8 to 6. Now it was time for us to put a halt to losing games late as we bounce back with 3 runs in the 6th. A BB by the coach& 1B from John got things going. Pete would hit a RBI 2B & Mike G would knock in 2 more runs to increase our lead 11 to 6. Bearce again did not give up as they scored 2 more runs in their 6th before we closed it out in the 7th with 2 on clutch RBI's from Wayne who hit a sac fly and Ron who hit a 1B. The defense & pitching by Berger would put away Bearce in their 7th for a great 13 - 9 victory.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS: Berger on the hill again made several nice stops on hard hit balls up the middle. Mark and John played a steady game at second & SS while at 3rd Pete flashed his glove and showed off his rocket arm on throws all night. The outfield played strong in general and hit the cut off great all night.

OFFENSIVE NOTES: Berger 3 hits, Fisher, John, Mark, & Pete had 2 hits each. Brian Owens had a huge 2B and 3 RBI's. Matt had a 1B, BB & 3 R's. Wayne a 1B & 2 RBI's. Ron a 1B and the coach 2 BB's & 1B. The team had 18 hits in all, nice job everyone.

OFFENSE POOR AGAIN AS TEAM GOES DOWN TO DEFEAT 9- 7 VS ANCIENT MARINERE

7/14/2010
This team has never seen its offense so poor as it has been this year. We need to get on track the next few games before the playoffs or else a good defensive effort and pitching like last night goes to waste. Teams will not win many games just scoring 7 runs. We need of a different approach to the game on offense which will be done for our next game this Fri.

As for the game we took an early 2 - 0 lead in the first as Fish hit a 2B and Stephen hustled out an RBI 3B to drive in Fish. Brian Owens then hit a sac fly. Both teams did not score until the fourth when we added 2 more runs thanks to a line drive 1B from Whitey and RBI 1B's from Berger & Ron that put us ahead 4 - 0 going to the fifth. Ancient would then come up 3 runs in the fift to tie the game up, but we came back in te sixth with 3 runs to to go ahead by 3. Stephen, Whitey, and Owens all hit 1B's that set up Matt for a line drive deep to left center for an error to score 3 R's.

As both teams headed to the seventh and a 7 - 4 lead for us all we needed was three outs for the win. Well at that point Ancient's bats came alive and we had a couple of misplayed balls that eneded up giving them 5 runs putting us down by 2 runs as we took the bottom of the inning. Mike G and the Coach started the inning by getting on base, but neither would score giving Ancient Marinere the 9 - 7 win.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS: JOHN at SS made a couple of nice snags of line drives, Paul our new addition played a steady game at 2nd and Matt was also strong in LCF a real nice catch on a deep fly ball. Stephen did a nice job all night in RCF, Ron made a good grab at C on a faul ball and Berger was great all night on anything hit hard up the middle.

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS: Whitey 3 hits & 2 R's. Fish two 2B's, Ron two 1B's, Matt 3 RBI's and Stephen a 1B & 3B. Owens, Mike G, Mark, Coach, Berger had a hit. Not much production strung together 13 hits, but spread out.

TEAM SUFFERS ANOTHER LOSS ALTHOUGH DEFENSE PLAYED GOOD & URBAN HITS HR.

7/09/2010
Team defensive effort was strong last night in defeat, but the consistant offense is suffering. Berger pitched good and his infield defese up the middle from Reardon & John played a great game. However, the offense or lack of it is killing us. Berger did try to help himself with 3 hits, Matt Urban has found his swing 2 hits, one a line drive solo homer, Reardon, Brad and the Coach collect 2 hits each, but it was not enough to pull out a win late in the 7th. Instead we lost it in the 7th to Briggs 7 - 6.

MATT URBAN 4 HITS & PETE 3 TO SUPPORT STRONG PITCHING FROM RALPHVS NE GROUP 8 - 6 WIN LATE.

6/30/2010
Ralph kept the team in the game all night until the offense clicked late thanks to a two run single from Ralph in the 6th and RBI singles by Matt & Shawn in the 7th to gain the 8 - 6 victory over NE Group. Pete also had a good game with 3 hits with a key 2 run 2B in the 4th that tied the game at the time. Stephen and Ralph collected 2 hits each in the game. Stephen played a strong left field all night to help Ralph gain the win.

BRAD HITS 3 RUN HOMER & PETE PITCHES A GEM AS TEAM BEATS CATMAN 8 - 2.

6/04/2010
With the help of its reserves, good defense & Pete's Pitching to go along with timely hitting the team won its 4th of the season. Pete was in control all night with his stuff as Catman could not get their offense going. They got maybe 6 hits. Our defense supported the efforts of Pete on the hill. Ron, Larry & Bobby all reserve outfielders along with Brian Owens caught anything hit their way all night. Mike G at 1st and Brad at 2nd both made nice plays all game. Shawn at SS and Matt at 3rd also were steady behind Pete. As for the offense it was only able to produce 9 hits, but it did enough to pull out an 8 - 2 win.

Brad got us going in the 2nd with a 1B, Matt and Larry would follow with a hit each to set Ron up for a bases loaded line drive RBI 1B for the 1 - 0 lead. In the bottom of the inning Catman tied it up, but then we came back in the 3rd with 5 runs. It was the turning point of the game. We loaded the bases up with 3 walks before Pete & Mike G collected RBI's and Brad came up with the hit of the game a 3 run line drive to RF.

In the 4th, Larry and Ron reached base on two 1B's that set up McDevitt for a Sac Fly. Catman scored 1 more run in the 5th to cut our lead 7 - 2. We ended hope for them to come from behind by adding a run in the 7th on a Sac Fly from Shawn that scored Ron who had started the inning with a 1B. Pete closed Catman out in their 7th to win the game 8 - 2.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS: Brian Owens made two nice catches in RF with men on base to end any chance of a rally. Ron caught a deep ball to left with runners on for a key out. Matt & Shawn both made key stops at 3rd & SS. Mike. G made a very nice grab at 1st on a line drive for a double play unassisted.

OFFENSIVE STARS: BRAD 2 hits one a HR for 2 R's & 3 RBI's. Ron had 3 hits a run & RBI. Larry 2 hits. Matt & Owens had a hit each. The coach set the tone leading off with 4 walks.

TEAM BEATS NE GROUP 9 - 5 BEHIND TIMELY HITTING, GOOD DEFENSE & PITCHING.

6/01/2010
This was a very quickly played game. Pete pitched a nice game as he did not allow NE Group to put together big innings. Brad made a couple of nice plays at first base & Shawn at third to support Pete in the infield. Fish played his steady game in Left in addition to helping two new fill in outfielders set up for hitters.

Offensively we scored 7 runs in the 2nd to score enough to win the game. Pete hit a 2B to start the big inning. Matt knocked him in with a 1B. Mike G got a 1B, Coach walked to set up the key hit of the inning a 3 run 2B by Fish. Shawn continued his power swing by hitting a 2 run homer as Pete yelled out as he ran the bases, "man he is slow". The final run of the game came in the 5th as the coach knocked in the run with a RBI 1B.

OFFENSIVE STARS: FISHER a 2B for 3 runs. Shawn a 2 run Homer. Pete 3 hits. A nice game by Matt with 2 hits. Mike G 2 hits and 2 runs. The Coach a walk, 2 hits and 2 RBI's. We had 14 hits in all.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS: Great Pitching by Pete. Brad another good game at 1st, while Shawn filled in at 3rd and did well. Larry made a couple of nice catches at 2nd & Mike G displayed his hustle all night as catcher backing up 1st to prevent any wild throws. Fisher played his steady game in the outfield.

TIMELY HITTING, GOOD DEFENSE & RALPH's STEADY PITCHING GIVES FOREVER YOUNG A 13 - 7 WIN VS BRIGGS PIZZA!!!

5/15/2010
The team jumped ahead 4 to 0 lead in the first, but needed a 3 run homer from Pete late to clinch its second win against a good hitting team in Briggs Pizza. Ralph did another good job on the hill keeping us in the game, but was backed by some very nice defensive plays to capture the win.

In the 1st John set the tone for the night with a lead-off walk. Several followed with a team total 9 walks some close to strikes. It seemed to frustrate their Pitching most of the game. Shawn followed John's walk in the first with a hit and scored on a single by Pete to put us in front 1 - 0. Back to Back walks by Mark and Mike. G and 2 infield outs would give us a 4 – 0 lead after the 1st. Briggs came right back to cut the lead to 1 run in the 2nd before we put up 2 more runs. Larry walked & Ralph singled to start the 2nd. The Coach scored Larry with a hard single and Shawn got Ralph in on a productive out.

Briggs Pizza would show their pesky hitting in the 3rd by tying the score up on 3 runs before we came back with 2 in the bottom of the inning to take an 8 - 6 lead for good. Mike. G singled and Brad hit a solid 2b, Stephen then hit a clutch 2 run single for the go ahead runs. We added 2 more runs in the 4th. Walks by the coach and John set up an RBI single by Pete & a Sac Fly by Mike. G to give us a 10 - 6 lead heading to the 5th. They would score 1 more run before Pete hit a clutch 3 run homer a shot to RCF to help clinch the win for the team. The coach had walked again the 9th for the team and Shawn singled prior to Pete's HR.

Defensively: We made some stellar plays one being a nice stop by Mark at 3rd and a better pick at 1st by Brad on the throw. Shawn at 2nd made a great stop on a hard shot that was heading to RCF for a single. Pete came up with a very nice play at SS as he fielded the ball and made a great throw across his body on the run to first. As it turned out the big play of the game came with runners in scoring position late in the game that would have cut our lead to 1 run. Stephen made a nice grab going back on a line drive deep in RCF near the tree with two runners on to prevent a HR.

OFFENSIVELY: John set the tone for the game with 3 walks as the lead-off hitter. It was a nice night for Pete with 3 hits one the key HR late for a total of 5 RBI's. Shawn continues to hit as he collected 2 more singles & 2 R's. Stephen had 2 hits one a key one for 2 runs in the 3rd. Mike. G, Brad, Larry, Ralph & the Coach each had a hit on the night. Mark and the coach got on base twice with walks.

TEAM PULLS OUT GREAT WIN 12 - 11 LATE ON A SINGLE BY MIKE FISHER.

5/12/2010
The team struggled early, but made adjustments at the plate in 5th and 6th to score 9 runs to come from behind for a 12 to 11 victory over Ne Group. We jumped ahead 3 – 0 heading to 3rd before Ne Group came up with 8 runs on some nice hitting. They would add 3 more runs in the 4th to give them an 11 to 3 lead heading to the 5th inning.

In the 5th Brian Reardon would get a key RBI single and score on a 3 run homer a shot that was hit to RCF by Mike G which pulled us to within 4 runs 11 – 7 heading to the 6th inning. The team would make a key adjustment at the plate of not trying to place the ball just get up and hit it. It seemed to work as we put up 5 runs in the 6th to take a 12 – 11 lead heading to the 7th. With two outs in the 6th Shawn Bernard hit a rope for a HR his third extra base hit in the game as he had two triples prior. Matt and Mark followed with back to back singles and both scored on RBI hits from Ralph & the coach, (the old men came up big in the clutch). Ha! They both would score the tying run and wining one on a single by Mike Fisher. Ralph finished strong on the hill with 3 scoreless innings to hold NE Group at bay while his team came from behind to win its first game of the season.

Earlier in the game John Leary made some nice plays at SS. Fish was his stead self in LF, Brad made a nice play at first preventing a throw from going into foul territory. Mike G hustled all night from the catching position backing up first and Mark made a nice stop of a ball hit hard up the middle. The team did witness a FULL MOON when Shawn Bernard dove for a ball and his paints came down. We nearly had to stop the game as Fisher and Urban were laughing so hard. The ump even yelled he saw it.

Offensively Shawn had two triples one he may have scored on if he did not drink all those beers in the off season. Ha! He did make sure he hit a homer on his last at bat, but I think he is still using oxygen at home tonight after his long run around the bases. Seriously though nice job Shawn 3 bombs for two 3b’s and a HR. Mike G also crushed a ball to RCF a three run homer along with a single for 4 RBI’s. Fish did a good job as our lead off hitter with 3 hits for the tying and winning RBI’s. Reardon and the coach had 2 hits each. John, Matt, Mark & Ralph also contributed with a hit.

Great Job Everyone way to pull the game out late!
