5-0 is very decieving....

5/20/2015
We havent played anyone yet but that will change tomorrow. Bring your A game, know that we are there to win this game at all cost. We have guys that are assigned certain roles on this team. Example being Henry. Your job is to eliminate the pitchers wife in the stands. That will mess up his head. Hardy will eliminate the pitcher if that doesnt work. Chuck your job is to give the other team a pregame speech. We all have certain roles but those two are very important. Seriously, tomorrow is more than a game to us. They are our rival, they talk a lot of smack, and us varsity players have some history with some of their varsity players and can not lose. Tomorrow is win or win

3-0 start is nothing...

5/12/2015
You have to win your last game of the season. Thats the important one. Lets forget last week and focus on this week. We are putting up enough runs to win a game but we have yet to play anyone with a good defense. What are you thinking about when you go to the plate? That im jsut gonna swing and hope that luck is on my side? Not good. You need to have a situational mind frame and do whats best for the team. If you dont know ask one of us and we will help you. Example. Man on first and second, 1 or less outs, you come up and you hit a bal lto the shortstop, double play, inning over. Did you consider backside? Did you wait on an outside pitch? I heard before well i hit it hard...Yeah we know, that was the problem, you hit it hard right to the wrong place.

The 2015 Season is upon us

5/04/2015
Our 10th season is about to start here at DISA. Over the years we have became a powerhouse. In the last 5 years we have played in 4 Base Championship games winning 3. It is true that we have had a couple of our players fall from the tree since last year but we move on. We have lost many players over the years and still continued to dominate. It will come down to wants it more in the end and that is usually us. We have a bounty on us since we are the current base champs. See you tomorrow at 4:15 at the fields...

DISARAYS come to an end......

3/03/2009
I am officially cancelling the DISA intramural season for the 2009 year.
This does not mean you can not play intramural softball.
Call the Athletic director and you can put your name in the players pool and you can play for another team on base.
Or you can create your own DISA team, you can go out and recruit players in the building, pull from the players pool, or whatever you need to do.
If anybody decides to do this and you need any info or guidance, feel free to call me and I will help out anyway I can.

I enjoyed my 3 years as DISA coach, as most know, this was going to be my last anyways. Next year I will be moving on to bigger and better things coaching 5 year olds.
We came a long way in our 3 years. I met a lot of good friends and lost even more. No regrets though.

A long season has ended

7/15/2008
DISA lost tonight 15- 3 in 5 innings to the 908th. They beat us 4 out of 5 times this year. Therefore they deserve the base championship. We made about 13 errors and only got 5 hits. Thanks for the hard work this year. We have improved every year and we still have room to. You guys enjoy your off season for the next 8 months. Dont just lay your bats in the closet. Take what you have learned this year and build upon it for next year. I know my situation is different than yalls and i will probably play another 150 games before the end of the year but what will you be doing. How bad do you want it next year? Next year starts now. Go to the cages, throw with your kids, stay active. Come back next year better than you are now. I feel like Brett Favre in March right now. I just want to hang up the coaching shoes but i know i will change my mind just like Brett come next year, so for now let me finish swallowing this loss and i will see you on the field in March. Once again thanks for the memories this year and get your pics from Dave Tanner, he has done an awesome job.

DISA loses game 1 in the 7th by 1 run 16-17

7/11/2008
Last night DISA was scheduled to play a double header for the base championship. Only needing to win one to clinch, we felt we had it locked. The 908th came out and scored 13 runs in the first two innings to our 4. DISA then shut them down the next 4 innings. Going in to the top of the 7th, DISA was down 14-13. We scored 3 to take a two run lead to the bottom of the 7th. At the start of the inning the rain started to come down. It only got worse and worse. It turned into a blinding rain that allowed the 908th to score 3 runs and take the win by one. Our outfielders could not even see the ball coming off the bat. With two outs and bases loaded, a line drive was hit to left leaving our outfielder just staring into sky, the ball went over his head and the winning run scored. DISA did not play the best game defensively or offensively. We did not hit the way we can or should have.
How many times in life have you done something and said man I sure wish I had that to do over again. If I would have just hit that time or would have caught that ball or hustled here or played just a little harder.. I wish i could play that game over. I wish I would not have made some of those mistakes. Well this time you get that chance. Take advantage of it. We are scheduled to play the 908th Tuesday in a one game winner take all. Game time is 5:30. The 908th says they can not play that day because they are leaving TDY this Saturday. This game may either get pushed back for a while or cancelled all together. I hope we get to play them and prove we are a better team. I will keep the team updated as I find out. Thanks for everyone coming. That was the biggest crowd we have ever had at a DISA game and hope to see more next Tuesday.

DISA beat 908th to advance to the championship

7/01/2008
DISA changed things up tonight beating 908th 16-7. This is the same team that has beat us both times very bad this year. DISA came out in the first inning with a defense rarely seen in the intramural leagues. 908th was completely confused and went 3 up 3 down. DISA came in to score 2. 908th came out in the second and scored 0 once again. DISA put up 5 to go up 7-0 and never looked back. Theresa Osborne made some game changing plays at first base to end both innings. John Henfey made a spectacular catch in the first inning as he sprinted from right field to make a shoe string catch in the gap. Jimmy Hopples defensive skills never made it to the game but his bat did. At lead off he went 4 for 4 with 4 runs. Gary Hartzog continued his great pitching by baiting the batters to hit to the defense. I don't like to toot my own horn but (beep beep), The old coach finished the game 4 for 4 with a double a triple 2 HRS and 9 RBIS. We will play for the first championship in the history of DISA Thursday July 10th @ 5:30. Who we play will be decided later in the tournament. Everybody have a safe 4th and I will update you as soon as I find out next Tuesday who we play. One more......

DISA programs ELSG with new code

6/26/2008
DISA rolled over ELSG tonight with 15 runs in the first two innings. We then held off ELSG for 3 more innings to win 17-4. Jimmy Hopple hit a grand slam in the 2nd to put us up by 14. ELSG only scored 1 more the rest of the game. We have advanced to the finals of the winners bracket and will play 908th on Tuesday July 1st. Two more games and we bring home the trophy. Great game and see ya tuesday

DISA comes alive

6/24/2008
DISA beat ACSC #1 20-5 in 4 innings. ACSC scored 5 runs in the first and never got a runner to third again. DISA hit 7 HR's last night in a hitting display that would have beaten anyone. Word on the street is DISA is finished for the year. Well we're not and we got something to prove. 3 more games and we can bring home the championship that we have worked so hard for. We are full steam ahead now, no looking back. We play Thursday at 5:30 against ELSG. This is the current base champions so we will be looking for a blowout to the fullest.

DISA lives up to their nickname

6/20/2008
THE DISA DONKEYS!!! We lost last night to HQAU. Got ten runned in the bottom of the 6th 21-11. No one played to their potential. We scored 8 runs in the first two innings and held them to 0. We lost the next 4 innings 21- 3. We have hit our slump and its better to have happened now rather than next week. We will begin the playoffs next week. I am unsure about the make up game on Monday as of right now. Next week i hope to see a rested and improved DISA team that is ready to complete the last and most important part of the season. You will see a different lineup next week as I have spent the season experimenting with everyone in order to bring home the championship. Have a good weekend and forget about the last week. Next week, 1 game, 1 inning, 1 out at a time. Every single one counts from this point on....No more reprieves or next times.

DISA lost a close one last night.

6/18/2008
We lost to the Medgroup 10-11 last night. We had some very untimely hitting. We left bases loaded twice when we needed the runs the most. The winning run was scored in the bottom of the 7th with no outs. We play tomorrow, Thursday the 19th @ 5:30 against HQAU. This will be our final regular game of the season. We possibly have a make up game on Monday @ 6:45 against ACSC#1 if the outcome will affect overall standings. Our base championship tournament is scheduled to start Tuesday June 24th. The standings for the league are listed below with DISA tied for first

We have a tough game coming up on Thursday against ACSC#1. We beat them by one run last time. Gametime is 6:45 , showtime is 6:15

DISA get a good nap in the last two innings

5/29/2008
We hit well enough to win but our defense failed us. DISA held a lead going into the 6th inning. 908th scored 3 to go ahead by 1 and DISA put up a egg. In the 7th 908th put up 6 to go ahead by 7 and DISA hung another egg. We hit very well though and are looking forward to seeing the 908th in the playoffs. We are no doubt the best team on base only losing twice this year and both being to the 908th.

DISA finally breaks a heart

5/27/2008
After spending the entire game down by 6 runs DISA prevailed by showing that we can come back. After going into extra innings DISA won 10-9. We trailed the entire game after ACSC scored 6 runs in the top of the first. DISA decided not to take batting practice before the game and it showed that we should. Everybody did their part in this win someway somehow. Bottom of the 7th DISA was down 4 runs. Kenyon led off with a solo HR, Gerrell followed it up with a solo HR, Hartzog walked, Mott hit a triple and with 2 outs, Brian Jackson ripped a clutch single to bring in the tying run. DISA allowed one run the next inning. Trailing by one with one out Whatley hit a double and was followed by Hopples in the park HR. I could go on and on listing everybody's contributions. We can come back and we will. Thursday is a must win for DISA. We play 908th. They are our only loss this year. The bill is overdue and we are coming to collect.

DISA holds on for another win

5/21/2008
DISA jumped out to an 11-0 lead last night in the second inning. In the bottom of the second the coach had to leave unexpectedly. Ashley had a wreck and totaled our her van. An ER visit followed. After an all nighter in the ER she was release with minor bruises and soreness all over. She is at home today recovering. Thanks for everyones concerns last night. We appreciate it. HQAU continued to fight as a lot of teams have done this year. After the coach had to leave the game we had no replacement so my spot in the lineup was an out everytime it came up. That should make a team get down but it didnt. Disa played right on through never giving up. Then another surprise. Jimmy had to leave also and we had no replacements so we had two automatic outs. Disa kept on though and was able to hold off HQAU in the last inning. Thanks to everyone picking up the slack and I will see you guys again on Tuesday. We are off Thursday.

DISA wins again

5/13/2008
DISA squeaked one out tonight 16-15 against ACSC#1. The game was not as close as the score states. DISA actually played a great game and went up 11-3 after 3 innings. ACSC didnt really do much else the rest of the game except for two innings where they scored some runs. DISA played hard and deserved the win that they earned. Going into the bottom of the 7th, score tied 15 - 15, Michael Kenyon came in as a pinch hitter to hit a solo walkoff HR to end the game. Biggest smile i have ever seen on his face besides when Roger Day feel in the creek golfing. Next game is Thursday against the Med Group. Probably a rain out but i will keep you informed. Keep hitting it hard. We won tonight because we out hit the other team. Plain and simple.

DISA crosses another hurdle with a win

5/06/2008
DISA finally beat CCAF for the first time in team history. Looks like this year could be the year that DISA sets the standard for intramural league ball. Tonight was a night where we came together as a team for one purpose. Sometimes we have to do that. We jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the second inning and kept going. We run ruled them in the 5th by 12. I will say this with complete honesty. We have the best team on base this year. We can do all that we want. We just have to stay hot and keep playing hard. We only had 4 pop outs tonight. We had two sacs. Two line outs. We batted .600 as a team. Great job guys. Thursday we play ELSG and I will make up the playing time to the guys who didn't get their share tonight. Josh is still 0fer in his career and halloran went 0 for 3. Also give a Jimmy some for his first career HR. I got a feeling many more will come from this guy over the years.

DISA comes out and proves that we will not stay down

5/01/2008
DISA won 14 - 7 tonight. DISA came out and scored 11 runs in the first inning and never looked back, never really did anything else either but we didnt have to. Tonight DISA only let the infield make two plays, but we had 11 pop ups. This is proof that if you hit it down and hard you will get on. Pop up and you are probably out. We had a change in the lineup tonight and it proved to be effective. Tuesday we play CCAF, this is a tough team that we need to beat. There will be even more changes in the lineup Tuesday as I try to evaluate every possibility we have. Chuck and Thersa came in the game to go 2 for 2 each. Nice job guys. Kenyon had 3 triples to set a DISA all time 1 game record and El Erby made a very good tag at the plate to end the inning and save us a run. Clint got into a fight before the game against a softball and suffered a bruised face, a good little cut, and his record is now 0-1 against the ball. Bill Gunlogson pitched another great game only allowing one walk. Josh is still 0fer in his career.

Not a good night for any

4/30/2008
DISA really visited Davy Jones' locker last night. We went as low as i think we can go. This game was bad from the beginning. No one knew where they were playing or batting becasue everything had to change at the beginning of the game. That is the coaches problem, sorry for that. We had 9 pop ups last night and 5 strike outs. We needed this loss though. This should help us realize that we cant come out and run over some of these teams, we have to play hard every inning. We just didnt hit. We all had an off night and sometimes that happens. Lets come out Thursday and make that up against another good team. Game ball would have to go to James Halloran as he is the only guy who got two hits and hustled to make things happen. Clint Collins did a great job at first. Bill Gunlogson pitched very well for us.

DISA wins the season opener.

4/24/2008
DISA put away ACSC #2 tonight 21-13 and got the sweet revenge that we wanted. Game ball definitely goes to Gerrell who went 5 for 5 with a HR. Michael Kenyon was a close second with 6 RBIS and 4 runs. I know Mike will have plenty of chances throughout the year to gain another though as Gerrell has resigned for the first time until the next game on Tuesday. That is when he will show up, go 5 for 5 and resign again, until Thursday. Theresa made a great catch in RCF to end a rally inning. All played well and we did what we had to do to win. Tuesday will be tough since we will be missing a lot of players. Keep hitting.
