Game Recap - June 9, 2008

EXTRA EXTRA!
HOPE YOU LIKE YOUR POTATOES MASHED

Just outside a mist of fog on a hot and humid cloudy evening, The Marsh'd Potatoes took to the field against the Isotopes.
Sadly, them taters got creamed in a loss of 21,22 or 23 ( lets not get into details....) to 1.

Heroic acts from the outfield kept the score from getting any worse: Terry Kida's incredible slider-saves!! I'll say it again "WAY TO USE THAT WET GRASS!!"........ matched by Cory Verconich's cathes infield who made it look oh-so-easy!

The Isotopes had some big hitters and were in the right place at the right time to catch many Marsh hits.
Everyone put in a great effort dispite the heat and humidity. The Isotopes beat us last night, but we're not out yet!

HIGHLIGHT REEL
The battle of the Mikes ....... McDermott's pitch to Parwicki who hit the ball right back into the pitcher's glove! Quick thinking probably saved McDermott from a huge purple bruise (memories of last year Mike?)

Walter Lok playing kickball from right field....

The umpire battle on Tamara Berlana's base 2 tag - out of an Isotope! (did i mention we were blessed with two umpires last night?.....)

Next game is against the Renegades Monday June 16th at Coronation #1. We will hopefully be benefitting from some players who haven't had the chance to make it out this year. Looking forward to seeing you out next week... and somebody remind me not to let Parwicki set up the bases on monday....................................

GO MARSH GO!!

E/K/T/M (who has been demoted from CEO due to the ill placement of the bases last night)

Game Recap - May 28, 2008

Under the lights of Riverdale Park, a dedicated group of players took to the field and brought back the official first victory of the season winning 13-11. It was a long, hard fought battle with Lombard; but despite only having three girls in the lineup we managed a solid defensive game and a strong batting presence when it mattered most.

Highlights of the game include:
-Graham Harvey’s three-run homerun in the 7th inning to give Marsh the go ahead lead they would need to hold onto the victory
-The defensive duo of Cory Verconich and Harry Huynh at third base and shortstop who fielded the hard Lombard hits (when they had them!) all night long
-Tom Eager’s first base heroics against the Lombard ladies (and the ump who clearly robbed him twice during the game for two outs)
-Terry Kida’s left field fly ball catches
-Walter Lok’s massive opposite filed triple hit
-Karen Lam who played as two people at rover (with a pink glove)
-Tamara Berlana for striking out at least six Lombard players while playing catcher behind the plate

Props to Lombard for:
-bringing out juiced up ringers who couldn’t hit
-wearing jewelry and getting busted
-touching home plate to deny runs and get much needed outs for us

Great game, team! Dirty cow was out last night but it didn’t matter! We play next Thursday night, 7:00pm at Coronation Park against Zurich. Game invite to follow. Pre-drink at Jack Asstors.

Have a fabulous week!

Game Recap - May 15, 2008

We played an outstanding season opener last night against Chubb. It was a very tight game, both teams providing a solid defense. Chubb edged us slightly to get the 15-8 win. With the coaching staff getting their first look at the team, they all agreed this will be a great season for Marsh.

Marsh was able to hold Chubb to no runs in the top of the first inning. Alex Blair-Johns led the team off at the plate followed by Water Lok, each hitting a single. Tamara Berlana opened the scoring for Marsh, hitting a single to bring in Alex.

Marsh continued with a tight defensive game thanks to Graham Harvey’s TSN Highlight Wheel catch in center field. He was awarded the game MVP, but it was immediately revoked after his third base coaching woes of waving Victor Dhir to second base where he was tagged out by the waiting Chubb second basemen.

Other honorable mentions:
-Michael Parwicki for his two MONSTER home runs!
-Karen Lam for going 3 for 4 at the plate with 1 RBI (and for capturing the night on camera – pictures to be posted!)
-The batting trio of Mary Dalisay, Terry Kida and Harry Huynh (more formally known as Mary, Terry & Harry)
-The out-fielding duo of Kristina Uslinova and Graham Harvey for making a routine fly ball catch look spectacular – Kristina making the initial catch, the ball popping out of her glove and Graham providing the back up glove to pick up the remainder!
-Victor Dhir for his huge opposite field triple hit! This time the base coaches provided him with the correct signals!

Marsh looks forward to their next game against AIG on Thursday May 22nd at 7:00pm at Coronation Park. The schedule was changed. We are not off next week. Our Wednesday May 28th game is moved to next Thursday night.
