BAR FACTORY DOWN 8 RUNS COME BACK TO WIN SECOND GAME 21 - 13

9/09/2008
Up one game and coming of a great win it looked like the team had the advantage early in this game as we broke out fast with an 8 - 0 lead after 2 innings. It looked as if Bar Factory was still in shock over their loss in the first game, but to their credit they hung in to pull out a come from behind win 21 - 13.

In the first, Wayne started the inning off with a rocket to right for a 2B. Then came up Amanda who looked pitches over for a walk which was followed by another BB to Sean. Bar Factory quickly got two outs before Vickie hit a clutch RBI 1B, Joey an RBI 1B, Cyndi a 1B to load the bases for Joe. He would come up huge with a 2B for 3 RBI's and a 6 - 0 early lead after the first. In the second, 2B's from Chris, Todd and Sean lead to 2 more runs for a 8 - 0 advantage us. So everything looked good for the team at this point, but it never is over until the last out. Good teams put others away once they get big leads. However, on this night we did not as Bar Factory scored 7 in the 3rd to make it 8 - 7 us. Our team seemed flat and let a good hitting ball club back into the game.

Bar Factory would not only take the lead in the 4th with 4 runs, they would add 10 more to increase the lead by 13 runs. In the 7th we did ended the game on a good note by hitting and scoring a few runs, but not enough to pull out the victory.

TEAM BEATS BAR FACTORY 12 - 10 GAME ONE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP

9/09/2008
What a great come from behind victory. Trailing 6 - 0 heading to the top of the 3rd three back to back 1B's by Mary, Todd and Wayne got us on the board with our first run. The very next inning down 7 - 1 we scored 3 runs. Sean had an RBI 2B, Amanda a 1B, Keith a 1B to set things up for Joey for a 3 run 3B. In the 6th we increased our lead with 5 more runs. A 2B by Chris, an RBI 3B from G-Man, a 2B by Sean and a solo HR from Keith were the key hits for 3 of the runs. In the 7th three straight doubles from Todd, Joe and G-man gave us 2 of the most important runs of the game for a victory.

Although we won Bar Factory put up a run in the 6th & 7th, but still it was not enough. In the 7th inning the coach told Todd to intently walk someone which turned out to be a key move as it helped to keep the game tied. Josh would end up making the defensive play of the night with the winning run in position to score for Bar Factory. He bolted in from right field like he was shot out of a cannon to make a superb running catch low to the ground. It was the best catch of the year especially with the game on the line. Well done Josh.

DEFENSIVE STARS: The play by Josh. Both Amanda and Joey played one of the best games all season by preventing several balls from getting through the middle. Vickie made several nice catches in RCF at critical times during the game.

OFFENSIVE STARS: Sean and Todd both collected two 2B's & a 1B, Keith 2 hits one being a HR & 4 RBI's. G-Man a 2B & 3B for 2 RBI's. Amanda, Liz, Vickie & Mary each had a 1B, Wayne a 1B, Joey a 3 run 3B and Joe the game winning hit a 2B for a run.

The first game of the series was not close from the get go, but the second one was a lot as the Free Agents trailed by 1 run going into the bottom of the 4th inning 14 - 13. It was a good effort by the Free Agents especially after how much they lost by in the first game. TEAM EXPLODES FOR A 32 - 10 WIN OVER FREE AGENTS IN FIRST GAME OF THE PLAYOFFS

8/20/2008
Thanks to finishing second in the division we had the chance to play the lower seed team. It gave us a chance if we played fundamentally sound to have fun and get a win which we did.

Down 5 runs due to only 3 ladies, we had to score big to start the game and get it going in the right direction for a win. The team came out hot by putting up a 11 in the first inning on 12 hits. Sean got us going with a solid 1B and scored on a 3B by Keith for our first run of the game. Liz came up next to drive in Keith with a 1B, her first of 3 in the game even with a broken little toe. Josh then hit a solid 1B and Tony would knock in Liz & Josh with a solid 3B and score on a line drive 2B from speedy Matt. Then Joe (clutch) Joe drove in Matt with a 1B. Todd followed with a line drive to left for a 1B. The coach came up next and hit a sharp 2B into left to bring home Joe. Sean came up next for the second time in the order to hit a 3B on a deep ball to score Todd & the coach. Amanda would then hit her first of three 1B's in the game to score Sean and then come home for the teams 11th run of the inning on another 3B for Keith.

The hitting continued in the 2nd with Josh starting it off with a 1B and scoring on a 1B by Matt after Tony had a 1B. Joe scored Matt and Tony with a 2B to right and be driven in on a 3B from Todd. The coach knocked in the 5th run on a sharp 1B for a 16 - 5 lead after two innings which never gave up.

With Todd pitching a good game with strong defense behind him the team had no problem winning it's first game of the series. Although the Free Agents scored 5 runs aside from the first 5 we gave them it was not enough. Todd hit a line drive to deep left for a solo homer in the 5th. G-Man followed up with a smash to LCF for a 3B and score the second run of the 5th on a ground out by Joey to put us up with 2 more runs for a score of 18 - 8. It was just a matter of time that this game would be in the bag.

We did manage to put up 14 more runs as the Free Agents wanted to finish out the game. Sean (Papelbon) would close it out for us on the hill for the win. The key hits that gave us our final 14 runs came on a 2 run 2B by Josh, another 2 on a 1B from Joe in the 6th on 8 hits. To end the game with 7 runs in the 7th Keith hit an RBI 3B his third of the game and a 3B by Matt who hit the ball very hard & ran like lightning around the bases all night.

DEFENSE: Everyone played a nice game even the coach gave it his all on a ball hit by Jay a former Green Monster.

OFFENSIVE STARS: Keith a huge night with three 3B's, 2B, 1B for 3 R's & 3 RBI's. How about the ladies what a night for Amanda with 3 hits, 3 R's and 2 RBI's nice game. Liz 3 hits 3 R's & 3 RBI's, Cyndi 2 hits, 2 R's & an RBI. The ladies had a total of 8 hits, 6 RBI's & 8 R's, it was absolutely fantastic.

8/18/2008
The team played well most of the game until AFS scored 14 runs the last two innings in their attempt for a comeback win. For the first 5 innings we played solid defense, hit good and pitched excellent.

In the 2nd Liz got us started with a 1B which lead to 4 runs. Joey hit a 1B & scored on a fielders choice by Josh as he hustled down the line. Joe followed up with a 1B sending Chris to the plate for an RBI 2B. Both Josh & Todd would score on a line drive by Todd for a 1B to make the score 4 - 1 us after two.

An RBI 3B by Tony and an RBI Sac Fly from Keith put us ahead 6 - 2 in the 3rd. We exploded for 8 runs in the 4th after the coach said it was time to put up 5 runs or more. Cyndi hit a solid line drive over third for a lead off 1B and then Joe went to the opposite field for a 1B. Chris would drive in Cyndi with a solid 1B and then Todd knocked in 2 runs with a 1B. G-Man followed with an RBI 1B and the Coach did the same. Sean continued the 4th with another RBI 1B for the 6th run. Amanda then smoked a 1B and touched home with Sean for the 7th & 8th runs on a solid 1B from Tony.

Everything was looking great going into the 5th inning with us leading 14 - 2. We continued score with 5 more runs in the 5th and 3 in the 6th. Cyndi reached base on a hustling infield 1B was followed by a 1B from Josh which set up an RBI 1B by Todd and a RBI 2B from G-Man for th big hits of the 5th.

AFS would put up 7 runs in th bottom of the 5th to make the score 19 - 9 us. In the 6th three straight 1B's from Tony, Mary & Keith set up Liz for a 2 run 2B and a final run of the game for us by Joey on a ground out. The 3 runs and clutch 2B from Liz proved to be very important as AFS tried to make a great come back with 7 more runs in the final inning. It was a valiant effort by AFS, but they still came away with a 22 - 16 loss.

FREE AGENTS LOSE 21 - 5

7/23/2008
This was a must game to get us back on track. Coach asked that we play smart in what looked like a slaughter game. He also wanted us to have fun and focus more on defense, no throwing the ball around stupidly. The team did do what was asked and had lots of kick a-s fun. TEAM play was very evident in the win.

Sean, Amanda & Josh got things going early for a 10 run 1st. The coach changed the batting order to generate more overall production throughout the line-up. With the bases loaded, Liz picked up an RBI on a BB to give us a 1 - 0 lead. Joey knocked in Amanda and Cyndi hustle to 1st that scored the third run. Chris hit a two run 2B and scored on a RBI 2B from Keith who followed a nice 1B by Mary. Todd stepped up to hit a line drive 2B which scored Mary & Keith. The inning continued as Matt hustled out a 3B to score Todd. G-Man then hit a sacrifice fly to score Matt for the 10th run of what was a very impressive 1st inning.

Todd would pitch a good game shutting their offense down for 4 innings. Our defense made 3 double plays to support his pitching. We continued to score with 5 in the 2nd & 2 in the 3rd. Amanda hit a line drive 1B and was followed up by 3 more from Liz, Joey & Cyndi to set Chris up for a 3 run homer. Joey & Cyndi would knock in 2 runs prior to the at bat by Chris. In the 3rd Matt hit a 2B, Joe walked and G-Man knocked in Matt with a 1B. The coach then scored Joe to put us ahead for good at 17 - 1 after the 3rd.

It was just a matter of time before the slaughter rule took place. The Free Agents delayed it some as they came up with 4 runs to extend the game into the 6th. With 2 in the 5th and 6th the game became official 21 – 5 us. In the 5th a 1B by Keith, an RBI 2B from Todd and a RBI 3B from Matt put us ahead 19 - 5. We finally ended it in the 6th with coach leading off with a 1B and Josh hitting a 2 run HR.

DEFENSIVE STARS: Joey, Keith & Sean playing SS at various times to combine with Amanda and Cyndi on three double plays. Nice job! Everyone did well focusing on their defense and playing smart slaughter rule ball as coach asked before the game.

OFFENSIVE STARS: No games balls were given out after the game. I'll mention our 3 stars now. Our #1 star was Josh, 1B, 2B, HR, 4 R's & 2 RBI's in the number 3 hole as the coach made the change in order to spread out our speed and power more in the line-up. #2 star was Matt, as he picked up some added power towards the end of our order with a very nice performance, 2B, two 3B's, 2 R's & 2 RBI's. #3 star was two players for their contribution at the top of our order, Amanda two 1B's & Liz a 1B, two BB's, 2 R's and a RBI. It is very important the team gets production in order to set the extra base hitters up for more RBI's and at bats for wins. #3 star Chris in his new batting order the 7th, had a 2B, & HR for 2 R's and 4 RBI's. He will now be a second type lead-off hitter for us. Todd had two 2B's in his new slot the middle to set up our late power hitters. He knocked in 3 RBI's and scored 2 R's. Matt had a great night in a power slot late in our order hit a 2B & two 3B's for 2 R's & 2 RBI's. Joey collected two 1B's, 2 R's and 2 RBI's as our new clean up hitter. Keith who moved into another power slot in the middle of our order had a 1B and 2B for 2 R's & a RBI. G-Man continues to come up big towards the back of our order, as he had a Sac Fly for an RBI and a 1B for another RBI. Joe had 2 BB's & Coach a BB & with a couple of 1B's for an RBI & Run. They both reached base 5 of 6 total at bats. Sean was moved back into the lead-off spot a slot he was very successful at during fall ball. He had a 1B & a run. As stated earlier the ladies are important to us for us to be order for the team to be more successful. Mary had a 1B, her 3rd straight game with a hit. Cyndi hustled out two at bats to reach first on 2 FC's and had a 1B for 3 RBI's & a run.

BAR FACTORY KICKS OUR BUT 15 - 7

7/22/2008
What was looking like a defensive game early with Bar Factory leading 2 to 0 after the 2nd, suddenly opened up to an 8 to 0 for them after the 3rd. Our defense was playing a very bad game throwing the ball around and just making errors on routine plays.

All though the team did try to put up a comeback with 6 runs in the 6th to cut into an 8 to 1 lead by Bar Factory to 2 runs, it would not be enough for they came back with 6 more in the bottom of the 6th for the final score 15 to 7 them.

In the 3rd Josh who was our loan star of the night lead off with a 3B and scored on a 1B by Joe. Both players were the only ones to get more than one hit. In the 6th we put up a good attempt of a comeback win by scoring 6 runs on 4 hits the big one coming on a 3 run homer from Sean. The other RBI's in the inning came from Josh, Joey & Joe. In the bottom of the 6th, Bar Factory took the field with a 2 run lead. If our team could shut them down, we had a chance to pull out the win We did not as they scored 6 more times for a 15 to 7 victory.

TEAM GETS BACK ON TRACK WITH A 21 - 11 WIN OVER BALL BUSTERS.

7/18/2008
The team came out on fire with 6 hits and 4 runs in the 1st. Chris hit a 1B to start things. Mary followed with a solid line drive. Sean then knocked in Chris on a 1B and scored on a 1B from Todd. Cyndi hustled out an infield 1B to move a runner into 3rd for a sacrifice fly and RBI by Wayne. Josh drove in the 4th run for a 4 - 0 lead. The Ball Busters quickly put up a run in the 1st and 6 more in the 2nd to take a lead 7 - 4.

At this point in the game it was time to tighten things up on defense for a chance of a come back win. Just prior to our at bats in the 3rd the coach said if we get hits, we will win by 10. RBI 3B's from Josh and Keith got things going in the 3rd to set the tone for the remaining innings. Sean would hit a 2 run homer in the 4th to put us ahead 11 - 10 after the Ball Busters had just taken a 1 run lead.

Keith pitched great the rest of the game shutting their offense down. He got help from our outfield defense and at short stop.

In the 5th we broke the game wide open with 7 runs. Wayne started with a 2B and scored on a 1B by Josh. Keith followed with a 1B and scored on a hustling 3B by Joe. G-Man knocked Joe in on a 1B next. Chris would then hit a line drive RBI 2B and Mary got a 1B to set up a RBI 1B from Sean for the 6th and final run of the 5th.

A 2 run 3B by Keith and a sacrifice fly from Joe increased our lead to 11 runs as we headed to the 7th. Mary would knock in the final run of the game for a 21 - 14 win.

DEFENSIVE STARS: The entire outfield played good, but a spectacular catch deep in left center field by Josh stood out as it was in a very dark area of the field and he had to go back on the ball. It was an ESPN web gem. Joe played a good game at SS while filling in for Joey. Cyndi again did a nice job at 1st. Todd played steady at 3rd.

OFFENSIVE STARS: Chris 5 hits, 2 R's, 2 RBI's set the tone at the top for us. Sean came up big with 3 clutch 1B's and a HR for a total of 4 RBI's. Joe 3 hits a big 2 run 3B in the 6th to put the game away. Josh had a terrific night, 3 hits, 3 R's and 3 RBI's. Keith did the same, but 2 of his 3 hits were 3B's. The coach came back after he had an operation to collect 3 hits. Mary, Todd, Wayne & G-Man each had 2 hits. Cyndi had 1 to give us 21 for the game.

CTM WINS OVER GREEN MONSTERS 12 - 10

7/18/2008
CTM controlled the game until the 6th and 7th when we put on a strong come back with 9 runs to fall just short by 2 for a tie. Down 10 to 1 in the bottom of the 6th we started our efforts. Shane started off the inning with a 3B and scored on a 2B by Joe. Sean then hit a 2 run homer to make the score now 10 - 4 CTM. They would score 2 runs in the 7th to increase their lead by 8.

In the 7th, Todd started the inning with a line drive 1B. Vickey then got a infield hit on good hustle to 1st. Josh drove in Todd with a 1B and Matt hit an RBI 2B to get us within 5. The coach spoke to Shane just prior to his at bat asking him to try and ignite the team with a hustling base running play. He did just that as he stretched 2B into a 3B to score Josh and Matt with one out. G-Man would then drive a ball deep to left center at the edge of the woods for a sacrifice fly to score Shane. Everyone was screaming as the ball appeared to be a 2 run homer. Joe would get a 1B to continue our hopes of a come from behind win. He scored on a 2B by Sean to get us within 2 runs. It would be the best we could do in an effort for a win. CTM walked off the field saying to coach your team nearly pulled it out.

The loss was tough, but it did prove that this team will never go down easy. It did remind us of the fact that we need to stay focused on defense and be aggressive at the plate, but be smart for the whole game not just two innings.

DEFENSIVE STARS: G-MAN and Shane played well in RF. Matt made 2 nice plays at third as position he never played until this game.

OFFENSIVE STARS: Sean 1B, 2B, HR, 2 R's and 3 RBI's. Josh 2 hits, Shane a huge 3B for 2 RBI's and a 2B. Joe also hit a 2B and 3B for 2 R's and an RBI. Amy, Vickey, Joey and Todd each had a 1B to give the team 13 hits on the day. Problem was we did it late as the team put up 10 of the 13 hits in the 6th & 7th.

Joe would score Josh with a 3B and Matt got an RBI 1B. It was his first hit of the season upon his return to the team after being named the team Playoff MVP of the Frost-Bite season prior to the game.

As the team came to the plate in the third with a 6 - 0 lead the game had a feeling it was just a matter of time it would end soon for our 6th win. Wayne would hit his second HR of the game. Keith followed up with a solid 2B and be driven home by Todd on his 1B. Amanda would knock in the third run of the inning to give us a 9 - 0 just before John & Ed's put up 2 runs in the bottom of the third.

The team would score 6 times each in the fourth & fifth to capture its 6th win of the year 21 - 3. Josh would hit an RBI 1B, Joe and the coach hit RBI 1B's just before a three run homer from Wayne. In the seventh G-Man hit a 2B to get us going. Josh would drive him in with his third hit of the game. Joe then hit an RBI 1B just before Matt's RBI 2B and the final run of the game on a 1b by Shane. Wayne who had the nerve to wear a Gagne shirt closed out the game which was more than what the real guy did for the Red Sox.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS: Matt who came in as a late sub at third base made what you might say a stumbling diving catch and another spectacular later. Amy made a terrific running catch in LF, the G-Man two nice catches on throws from Wayne at SS. To end a very nice game for Wayne he snatched a high throw to second from the G-Man at first as he came running across the bag at second. It got John & Ed's to cheer a little.

OFFENSIVE STARS: Wayne 3 HR's, 3 R's and 5 RBI's. Josh a great game on a 3 for 3 game with 4 R's and 3 RBI's. Keith for his pitching effort allowing 2 runs & a 2 for 2 game was the third star of the evening. Joe had another nice game, 3 R's, 2 hits and 3 RBI's. G-Man 2 hits and Matt his first 2 hits of the season. Matt also drove in 3 and scored a 2 R's. Shane had a nice team game by taking 2 walks to set things up for other hitters. He did get a solid 1B for an RBI. Chris collected 2 hits and scored twice. The coach and Todd each had a 1B. Liz walked twice, Amy once with a 1B and Amanda had a 1B with 2 RBI's.

THE TEAM WINS AGAIN 25 - 14 AGAINST JOHN & ED's

6/26/2008
The team showed plenty of Patience at the plate in this game as it walked 10 times. 9 of them by the fourth inning before we just singled John & Ed's to death as the team came up with 18 1b's after the third inning to score 13 of its 25 total runs.

Thanks to 5 RBI's from Amy, Todd, Amanda, Joe and the Coach we took an early lead after two innings before it exploded for 7 runs in the third. In the inning G-Man & Joey came up with RBI 1b's. Joe and Jay hit 1b's for 2 RBI's each before the coach knocked in the final run of the third on a long sacrifice fly and a 12 to 3 lead.

John & Ed's did come up with 2 more runs in the fourth before we came back with 2 of our own on RBI 1b's from Todd and G-Man. In the fifth and sixth we put up 11 runs and a score of 25 to 11 us. Josh hit a 3b to get things going in the fifth. Joe's 1b score Josh. Jay & the Coach each hit 1b's and scored on a 1b by Sean. Keith would step up later to hit a shot for a 3b to score 2 more runs. Amy followed up with a 1b to knock in Keith for the fifth run of the inning. In the sixth the team had 9 singles. The big hit of the inning was a 2 run 1b by Jay for his fourth RBI of the game and third hit. In the seventh John & Ed's scored three times, but it did not help for we finally won the game 25 to 14.

OFFENSIVE STARS: Amanda had 3 hits, Mary 2, Cyndi 2, Keith 3 with 3 R's and 2 RBI's. Todd, G-Man, Joey and Jay all had 3 hits each. Joe came away with 4 hits, 2 R's and 5 RBI's. The coach had 2 hits, Sean and Josh one each for a team total 31.

DEFENSIVE STARS: Keith made a couple of great plays as a pitcher and Joey had a spectacular running catch going into foul territory by third base to prevent a run from scoring. However, the big star of the game on defense was Cyndi who made several great plays at first base a position she had not played all season. Awesome.

GREEN MONSTERS GET BACK ON TRACK BY BEATING THE FREE AGENTS 24 - 9.

6/26/2008
This game was in deed a blow out from the start as the team put up 12 quick runs in the first. It would be the first game that we scored in every inning. We exploded by putting up 29 hits with 4 of them being home runs. Two of them came of the bat of Sean as he had a great day at the plate.

Sean started the game off by hitting his first homer of the evening. Amanda would follow with a solid 2b and score on a homer by Keith. Mary then got it going again with a line drive 1b and hustled around the bases to score on a 3b by Todd. Amy then came up to hit a 1b her first of three for the game. Liz walked and Joey hit a 1b for an RBI. Cyndi would come up to the plate next to knock in 2 R's on a 1b. Joe followed up with the ninth hit of the inning and score on a 1b by the coach. Then our Frost-Bite MVP Jay Mosher who was playing in his first game of the season hit a 1b and scored on a 3b by Sean. Amanda would end the 12 run first with a RBI.

In the fourth, Keith hit a line drive 3b with Mary knocking him in for the teams 13th run. Todd & Amy would follow up with back to back 1b's and score on a two run 2b by Josh. Free Agents did try to make a game of it with two in the second and five in the third to cut the deficit 16 to 7 us.

Cyndi would get her second hit of the game to get us going in the third. Joe then hit a two run inside the park homer to RCF deep. The coach would then hit a 2b and score on another 1b by Jay. Later in the inning Mary knocked in the fourth run of the inning to make the score 20 to 7 us.

The Free Agents again tried to come back in the fourth as they quickly put up two runs before our defense shut things down thanks in part to a nice running catch by Keith. We did score 4 more runs in the final two innings. The highlight was another homer from Sean for two runs.

OFFENSIVE STARS: There were several. Sean 2 HR's, 3b, 4 RBI's and 3 R's. Keith a 1b short of the cycle as he had a 2b, 3b & HR for 2 RBI's. Todd also fell short of the cycle as he hit a 1b, 2b & 3b. Jay had 3 hits, 3 R's & 3 RBI's in his first game of the season. Joe was 2 for 3 with a homer. Joey and the coach each had 2 hits. Josh a 1b to give every guy a hit. What was so impressive offensively was to see Mary, Cyndi and Amy each have 3 hits to go a combined 9 for 10 with 6 R's & 5 RBI's. Nice job ladies. Liz our fourth lady of the game did walk twice.

GREEN MONSTERS ARE DEFEATED BY BAR FACTORY 12 - 10.

6/26/2008
The team was missing several players, so we had to play a few out of there position. We did a good job for the most part on defense. On Offense we had 15 hits, but it seemed as if all night the team could not put up enough back to back ones to score.

Todd and G-man had RBI 1b's in the first two innings for the only runs up to the fifth. Trailing 9 to 2 in the fifth Shane hit a hustling 2b to ignite the offense it seemed as he started the inning. Matt knocked Shane in with a drive deep to RCF for a 2b and would score on a solid 1b by the coach. Sean came to the plate next to hit a blast for a two run homer. It really got the team going.

In the seventh, Bar Factoryscored two more runs to increase their lead to 6 going into the bottom of the inning. It was good to see our team still put a fight until the last out of the game. For the second time in the game Shane hit a 2b to get the team going. He scored on a G-Man line drive shot for a 2b. Matt then followed up with a 1b and the Coach walked to load the bases for Sean. He would drive in two more runs with a solid 1b to bring us within two runs. It would turn out to the final runs in a valiant effort. Bar Factory walked away with the win, but they knew it was a close one.

The Offensive players of the game, Sean 3 hits, a HR, 6 RBI's & 2 R's. Todd came away with three hits, Shane, G-Man and Matt had two each.

TEAM TAKES ITS FIRST LOSS 13 - 9 AGAINST BALL BUSTERS.

6/21/2008
It was a loss that was hard to take as we should have won. As each player walked away from the field to their cars, it was very clear to all that we deserved the loss. We were not FOCUSED for parts of the game. Although we did not play well the Ball Busters deserved to win as they hit and fielded very good.

Down 4 to 0 as we came to plate the bottom of the first Chris would get us going with his speed as he hustled out a 3b and would score the teams first run when Sean hit a fielders choice. In the third trailing 8 to 1 we started to make a game of it with 6 runs. G-Man got the inning going with a 3b, Joe followed with a 1b and the coach hit a line drive single for 2 RBI's. The inning continued with Debbie's clutch 2 run 1b that scored Liz and Keith to bring us within 1 run after 3 innings. We finaly took the lead 9 to 8 in the fourth. Josh lead-off with a solid 1b and would move into scoring position on smart base running when Joey hit a long sac fly. G-Man would score Josh on a shot for a triple to tie the score 9 to 9. The coach would then step up to the plate and drive in G-Man for the lead on a single.

With the team ahead by 1 run and three innings to play, it looked like we had a chance to pull out a win. However, in the top of the fifth our defense let us down and the Ball Busters hit two shots to left field to help their team put up 5 runs to take the lead 13 to 9 and gain a victory. Yes, there were some questionable calls from the ump and rule issues handled by the YMCA.

DEFENSIVE NOTES: Liz was the games number one star for making three great plays at 1b to prevent runs. Todd deserves a defensive star as he took a few shots hit right back at him on the mound to stop hits up the middle.

OFFENSIVE STARS: G-Man with two 3b's 2 R's and an RBI. Liz and Debbie 2 hits each, Joe, Joey & Todd collected 2 hits each. The coach had good day with 2 hits and 3 RBI's.

GREEN MONSTERS BEAT CTM 10 - 9 ON A VERY HOT DAY!

6/13/2008
Although the coach got upset a little as to how things ended in this game he was so happy we pulled off a nice win against a very tough team in CTM. The team scored 10 runs by the fourth inning for a 9 run lead. CTM proved why the y are tough to beat as they pecked away at th deficit, but came up 1 run short. Seeing a big lead
nearly slip by is what the coach got upset about as it would be hard to lose a game of this nature in 94% weather against a good team.

Green Monsters continued to hit good as we put up 5 runs in the first. Chris would lead off with a single, Amanda walked to set up a rbi single by Sean. Mary followed with a sharp single and scored on a two run triple from Keith for a quick 5 run lead. In the second Matt a new comer introduced himself well with a sharp single. Coach walked setting up an RBI single from Sean. We continued to score with two more runs in the third. Keith hit a HR deep to start the inning. Joey later would hit a double and Vickey would get him in for an 8 to 0 lead.

With Keith pitching a gem of a game in the heat and making several nice defensive plays in addition to his teammates, especially a nice running catch by Chris in RCF, it did not look good for CTM. However, they started to score in the third with 1 run & then came up big with 5 in the fifth to come within four runs. In the sixth it looked as if we had lost the lead as CTM would come up with 3 more runs and shut us down offensively in the seventh.

So with a 1 run lead going into the bottom of the seventh it was time for the team to bare down defensively to pull out a win. Keith did not give into CTM as he pitched a great inning shutting CTM down one, two, three and the win. As we walked off the field everyone took a deep breath as the team held strong defensively to get its third win of the year. The coach was very happy and proud that his team showed its grit to hang on to win.

Keith came away with a game ball for his great pitching performance, defense and a 3 hit day, a single short of the cycle. He collected 4 RBI's and also score two R's. Mary received a game ball for two hits and Sean got one for 3 hits. Joey and Chris again had another good afternoon with 2 hits each.

WHAT A GREAT COMEBACK WIN 14 - 13 OVER AFS!

6/09/2008
This game had to be one of our best in two years as the team played excellent defense, got timely hitting, good pitching and displayed great hustle all game long.

Todd pitched a nice game and displayed good defensive range by saving several hits. Although we were down a lady and having to play with only 3 in the outfield, our outfield displayed their fantastic speed by getting to balls in the gap to prevent extra base hits by AFS. In the infield Amanda positioned herself great at second to take throws from Tony at third for several key outs. Keith coming in late as a sub at first came up with many outstanding defense plays to stop any late inning rallies by AFS

On offense the team displayed their toughness and hustle to come from behind 8 to 0 and win. In the third inning the offense started to click by applying pressure on the defense with outstanding hustle on the bases. Several singles were turned into doubles which frustrated AFS. Todd started the third with a sharp single and Josh hit a double in the gap. Wayne would follow up with a hustling double for 2 runs. Chris continued the third with another hustling double that scored Wayne. He came around later for our fourth run of the game, but we still trailed by four.

In the fourth we exploded with 8 runs thanks in part to 3 more hustle hits and a home run that put us ahead by three. Todd again with a hustling double got the big 8 run inning going. Keith would score Todd on a double. Wayne then came up to drive Keith home with a hustling triple. Chris would keep the inning going with a RBI single. Amanda then would get on with a single to set up a three run homer for a shot by Sean. We would get two more runs in the inning on a HR from Tony.

In the fifth, Joey would lead off with a double and score on a home run deep to left by Keith for a 14 to 11 lead and two innings to play. AFS did put up a good effort in the bottom of the seventh scoring two runs to come within one. The defense did hold onto the lead to walk off the field with a great comeback win 14 to 13.

OFFENSE NOTES: Game balls were handed out to Todd, Keith and Wayne for their excellent efforts. Keith was 2 for 2 with a HR & 2b, 3 RBI's & 2 R's. Wayne had a 2b and 3b for 3 RBI's & 2 R's. Todd pitched good and had 2 hits. Sean hit a 3 run HR. Tony a 2 run HR and Chris continued to lead well for us as he collected two 2b's, 1b & 2 R's and 2 RBI's.

GREEN MONSTERS DEFENSE, PITCHING & HITTING TOO MUCH FOR BALL BUSTERS 18 - 3 WIN!

5/23/2008
What a display of how softball should be played by Green Monsters the other evening. Hustle, timely hitting & power, good defense and excellent pitching stunned the Ball Busters. Although they played fundamentally well there was nothing they could do to stop the play of Green Monsters.

The game started with good defense in the first, inning, but the Ball Busters still came away with a 1 - 0 lead to go on top early. Little did they know it would be their last lead as Green Monsters came back with 10 runs to take a 2 run lead after the first inning. Chris would get the explosive inning going early as he hit a ball to right field for a double. The team seemed to get ignited by the hit as Chris hustled right out of the batters box and turned in what would be for most players, a single into a lead off sliding double. Amanda then stepped to the plate to score Chris on what has become normal for her, a sharp single. Then our 2007 Frost Bite , "Player Of The Year", Sean hit a shot for the teams first home run of the season and a 3 - 0 lead. At this point the hitting was great, but it got better. Mary would get on base as she hit solid line drive to LCF. Then Tony our newest player, followed by hitting a fly ball for blast into the deep RCF corner for a 2 run Homer. What a way to make a introduction to his teammates. It was quiet the site to see the team standing with amazement while Tony rounded the bases with Mary hustling her ass off in front him not knowing the shot Tony had hit. With the team up by 4 runs and Liz at the plate & the Ball Busters shaking their heads over the ball Tony hit. Liz who had the most hits for our ladies this past Frost Bite season, continued the inning with a singled. Todd then singled, Josh walked setting up a bases loaded situation for two more RBI's, one by G-Man and the second on a solid line drive hit from Joey. The Coach would then walk setting up another double by Chris for three runs.

In the second the Ball Buster would score a run before we added to our lead with 2 more runs. Mary lead off by hitting a solid single and scored on another shot that Tony hit deep, but was held to a triple because of a league rule. Todd would score Tony on a line drive single.

With the score now 12 - 2 in favor of the Green Monsters as they headed for the third, Joey would follow a lead-off single by Josh with a rope to Left for a 2 run homer. His teammates would turn to one another to comment as he rounded the bases, were did that power come from in the off season?

As the defense for Green Monsters continued to shine with its good fundamental plays from Tony at third and Amanda taking his throws at second for outs. The play of the day was when Cyndi came up huge with a catch at home from a missile of a throw from Sean in Left. The great play stopped the base runner in his tracks and put him in a pickle that ended with Todd making a diving the tag for on out as he fell to the ground. The play is another reason why the Green Monsters Team can be special one this season.

The game was not over yet after that fine defensive play, but it was heading in that direction very quickly as the rain started to get a little heavier. In the fourth, Tony would start if off with another rope to RCF for his second homer of the night and a 15 - 3 lead for the Green Monsters as they headed to the fifth. The team new if it could shut down the Ball Busters in the inning and score 3 more runs they would win by the 15 run rule. Singles by Josh & G-Man and a 2 run triple by Joey would set the scene up for a posable game winning hit by the Coach. He would get the walk off hit with a line drive into LCF and a final score Green Monsters 18 and Ball Busters 3.

OFFENSIVE NOTES: Tony received the first game ball of the season for his 2 homers, three hits and 4 RBI's. Todd would get one for his excellent pitching allowing 3 runs and for getting 3 hits. Joey deserved a game ball for his 5 RBI, HR and 2 other hits, but the coach gave the final one to Mary for her 2 solid hits. Several could have received game balls for their play. Chris had 2 doubles, 2 runs and 2 RBI's as our lead-off hitter.
